first of all congrats on getting into nursing school. i will be starting myself this fall and also wanted to see the items in person that i was thinking about purchasing. there are many medical supply companies that carry any of the supplies you may need. one of the hospitals about a 1/2 hour away from me has a huge nursing supply store right at the hospital. they carry anything from stethoscopes to watches to hosiery to scrubs. i am sure there is one in your area...or something closely related. good luck in finding the equipment you need!:)
In Fort Wayne, IN here we have a place called James Medical. Its a uniform place. I would recommend that over the school bookstore. You will have more options. Online is a great place to shop. You can compare prices and get reviews from people who have bought the stuff. I would tell you to try to invest in decent stuff. You dont' have to get top of the line, but especially things like your stethescope you want something that you can hear well at. It's worth the money. I would say one in between $50 to $100 dollars is fine.
I'd like to see the items before I buy. Things like stethoscopes. At uniform shops? Seems like a dumb question but I'm clueless.
I got my Littman Classic IISE at a uniform shop. I overpaid for it, but I walked in without a full clinical uniform and walked out with one.
You can get a better deal online for these, but sometimes it's OK to support your local bidnesses.
