Didn't help me personally. I find the two sciences vastly different. I personally believe that A&P is completely doable without any chemistry background. However, having a knowledge of how atoms work together and the makeup of the periodic table helps in a general knowledge way.
**My personal experience only, others may vary!
I started taking AP1, Micro, Sociology, & Philosophy this semester- on top of working 20 hours a week. My experience with AP1 is a lot of memorization and labeling. I had the hardest time with the spelling and pronounciation of all the names. There is very little chemistry correlation with AP!, just lots of big hard words and a lot of histology.
If I could give any advice, (if at all possible) do not over load your schedule like I did and get your books early.
It is absolutely doable. I took A & P 1 with almost no background in Chemistry (besides taking general chem in 10th grade) and I passed the class with an A. I am currently doing A & P 2 and taking chemistry and again it is very doable without chem. While it definetely helps to know chemistry while taking A & P in my class she does not require that we know anything chem related.
It absolutely is doable, however I think it would have been helpful to have chem first, at least where I go to school. The first 2 or 3 chapters of ANP 1 have a lot to do with chemistry. If I'd had it first, those chapters might have made more sense. I still got an A, but I didn't really grasp all I could have.
Chemistry knowledge was slightly helpful in A&P, but all that was needed was covered in one of the first few chapters of the book. Not having taken a formal chemistry test should have negligible impact on how you do so long as you take a little time to learn some of the basic applicable concepts.

I was just wondering for those who have already taken AP I if it helped to have taken Chemistry first or if it is doable without taking Chem first?
Thanks,
Jen
