The question about what constitutes an abortifacient came to light with the latest Hobby Lobby SCOTUS decision. An abortifacient is a drug or device which terminates a human life after it has already begun. What do you think? Is this true?

There isn't actually any evidence in that video to suggest these four drugs are abortifacients. She does refer to what was not ruled out in these drugs' FDA trials, which is the extent of their mechanism of action. The clinical trials for FDA approval of these four drugs weren't intended to completely rule out any effect that could be considered abortifacient, even by a conservative definition of the term, just like they didn't rule out that these drugs could give someone superpowers.

It's essentially equally accurate to claim these drugs could cause abortion as it is to claim they cause superpowers based on the pre-approval studies. As I pointed out earlier however, many subsequent studies have shown that these drugs do not actually work through abortifacient means, by any definition.

The SCOTUS very clearly ruled that they do not consider these four drugs to be abortifacient or that such an argument can even be made.

The ACA specifically prohibits abortifacients from being covered in this manner, so there would have been no need to go through the trouble of deciding this based on RFRA, it would have been much easier for the conservative justices to simply point out the ACA does not allow such coverage.

A different federal law also prohibits federal funds from being used to cover abortifacients, so if there was even a question that these could be abortifacients they could not have ruled that the government should cover these four drugs on behalf of Hobby Lobby, which is what they ruled.
