I work at a small hospital in the cath lab. We have been up-ramping our interventional procedures with the hospital looking forward to opening up a CVOR. They recently did their first CABG and it was a great success, so of course there was media coverage (local newspaper) As I was reading the article I saw a quote from my boss and he was listed as "Dr. ____". Seriously?! :nono:Okay, first of all he wasn't even in on the surgery because.....he's not a doctor. They didn't consult him on the case becasue.....he's not a doctor. He has no certification, he's not a nurse and he's a far, far cry from a doctor! :angryfire He wouldn't even know what was going on in our department unless we informed him. I guess it's not like he told them he was a doctor because several people were present for the interview but still...... and when we were teasing him but serious about the fact that it shouldn't say 'Dr' he just laughed like we were jealous or something! Jealous no, madder than hades that he is taking credit thathe surely doesn't deserve, heck yeah! Anyway, I just needed to vent..... it wouldn't do any good to have the paper write a retraction because those are usually printed in 1cm x 1cm boxes on the bottom of the 4th page!:yldhdbng: Thanks for listening!!!

I had a co-worker who had given an interview in the newspaper, and the reporter listed him as an RN (he was still an LPN at the time). He was investigated by the BON for impersonation of a nurse (not sure of the exact wording, but that was the gist of it). It was completely an error on the reporters part, even sent in a statement from the reporter, and still, it took a few months for that mess to get cleared up. I wonder if the medical board does the same thing.

I'm sure it was an error on the paper's part.

This reminds me of when I was growing up. My dad worked in a hospital HR department and my friends always called him Dr. because he worked in a hospital.
Except in your case the mistake was made by grown-up professionals who have been trained in reporting and fact-checking.

The papers are well known for making errors. If a reporter was any good they would no longer be working for a paper.Unless you count the paparazzi

You're really THIS steamed? Because the paper assumed he was a doctor, and he isn't?
If you liked him, you'd be laughing about it. But since you obviously can't stand him, it's bugging you that he's getting credit for something he didn't earn.
And the bottom line is, it doesn't matter. Nada. Nothing. At the end of the day, he isn't a doctor (and the paper saying so isn't going to earn him a bigger paycheck). And at the end of the day, you are still who you are, who gives a rat's flip about what anyone *thinks* he is?
Move on. Your dislike for this guy is eating you up. Why give hate that kind of power?
