WHC Nurse Residency July 2014

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start this thread so all applicants can support each other through the process... which I need, haha. Has anyone who applied hear back from the nurse recruiter?

I got an email from the nurse recruiter asking me some questions, but she hasn't asked me to come in for an interview yet. If anybody who has heard back can provide more insight/updates, that would be great!

Also, I'm taking my NCLEX in Maryland so is anybody else planning on endorsing for their DC license if they get offered the residency?

Hey! I am interviewing at the end of May (anyone else with me!?!). I live in VA and will obtain my license there. Can anyone help me with the steps of the process to also obtain in DC?

Thanks! Good luck to everyone interviewing!

I'll be there too! Which specialty did you ask for? I don't know if you've already passed your boards, but if you have, then you need to endorse a DC license! I haven't taken my boards yet so I haven't gone down to the down and dirty details of it all.

Hey guys!

I just got an interview at WHC as well, but for mid-June. Congrats to everyone else who is in the same boat!

I started last week and I am loving it so far.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Do we find out what unit we are interviewing on when we get there? My interview is tomorrow and I haven't heard from them.

Yes. Sometimes you only get what's available.

Hello! I interested in the WHC residency program. I was wondering if anyone could share the starting salary and differentials? I'm also wondering if those of you who were hired got the units you were hoping for? Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi! I know what it feels like to have burning questions. Yes I got the unit I requested. Any other questions? Did they contact you for an interview?

I was wondering what the starting salary is I will have a little bit of a commute but it is an amazing opportunity I just want to make sure the salary will be worth it. I have not applied yet, I am in the process right now. Thanks for the info!

Specializes in NICU.

I recently applied for the Residency program starting in October, and I was wondering for those admitted in the July program how long did it take for them to contact you after submitting your application. Thanks!

For those accepted, did you have clinical experience prior to nursing school (i.e., as a CNA, patient tech, etc)? What are the things that are weighed most heavily (GPA, experience, recommendations)? Thanks!

I'd love answers to these questions too! Also if any ADN/diploma nurses (whether you are already working on your BSN) we're accepted.
