WHC Nurse Residency July 2014

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start this thread so all applicants can support each other through the process... which I need, haha. Has anyone who applied hear back from the nurse recruiter?

I got an email from the nurse recruiter asking me some questions, but she hasn't asked me to come in for an interview yet. If anybody who has heard back can provide more insight/updates, that would be great!

Also, I'm taking my NCLEX in Maryland so is anybody else planning on endorsing for their DC license if they get offered the residency?

Hi,

I was interviewed last month and I am starting in two weeks. I also endorsed my MD license for DC. Let me know if you have further questions.

Hi,

How long did it take you for you to endorse your DC license? I'm planning on taking all my paperwork in person to the DC board of nursing to get it done if I get the residency.

And did you interview on New Grad day? What top two specialties did you request? I just got an email from the nurse recruiter saying I have an interview in May, but I'm trying to get a feel of what to expect!

Thank you!

My endorsement took two weeks. It would have taken less time if I had listened to my husband who had told me to go directly to the board after my interview. It was a snowy day so off course I went straight home after my interview. I took my prints two days after the interview; however, the company had problem sending them to the FBI and it took me two weeks to find out after calling them TID. So I had to be re-fingerprinted. Long story short, "GO TO THE BOARD" and also take the fingerprints there. My choices were med- surge and Psych. I was interviewed for Med-Surge/Geriatrics. I asked for Geriatrics during my interview with the nurse recruiter. There were lots of other new grads. Do not be too stressed out. Practice at home. be confident and yourself. The recruiters were very nice and overall it was a good experience.

Thanks for the info! How many positions do you think were available for each specialty? And were they highly preferring BSN prepared graduates? What types of clinical questions did you get?

R u a BSN grad? They take lots of people. I heard that that the number can be close to or more than a 100. I only had one clinical question and it was really easy. The are just checking your critical thinking skills nothing too deep, at least in my case. I will start on Monday and I will tell you the exact number of people hired in my group.

Have you taken NCLEX yet?

I'm a BSN graduate, and I graduate this May so I haven't taken the NCLEX yet!

Best of luck to you!

I just received an email from the recruiter asking for additional information (GPA, preferred units, etc.) Is this a good sign? Do they send this to everyone, or just those who they are interested in interviewing? Thanks in advance! (btw, I put behavioral health as my first choice; my first BA is in Psych, and I have experience with psychiatric patients).

Any tips for interviews (assuming I get one!)

Thank you!

Hey! I am interviewing at the end of May (anyone else with me!?!). I live in VA and will obtain my license there. Can anyone help me with the steps of the process to also obtain in DC?

Thanks! Good luck to everyone interviewing!
