What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

An ex-gf of a friend named her daughters Liberty and Justice.

I think I may have been the nurse that attended to the delivery of Justice. The patient said she had a daughter at named Liberty. I was coming here to post those names when I read your post.

Makavelli and Dartanyun

I wonder if anyone likes the name, Tiana Lee Chante (Shantay, accent on the "e").

Oh my...there are some doozys here.

I know a family who named their son Tom. Not bad, but their last name is Sawyer!

There was a baby in the daycare I used to work in whose name was Jerome...only they pronounced it like "Jeremy". "Jer-o-me". I guess phonetically it makes sense but boy... that poor kid probably had/has to explain what his name 'really' is all the time!

Also, my friends niece is April Rayne.

To each his/her own I guess!

Well, they thought it was a mixup, and had to clarify with the mother...

Her first daughter was named Regina (rah-gee-na)

Well when she wrote out the name for her new baby girl... yup...

lady parts.

So the birth certificate lady said, "Oh, how do you pronounce that?"...

(vah-gee-na).

I hope she gets a nick-name.

Well thank heavens my parents gave me a normal name, it could have been disasterous though...My grandfather wanted to name me after his mother...Winnie Bell...My name would have then been Winnie Bell Wilson..? Thank goodness my mom talked him out of that.

I went to school with a girl whose name was Minka...not to bad, but strange.

Also, a friend of mine named her son Ethan Allen (like the furniture).

Misty Storm and then the last name. I thought it was odd at the time, but I think it's beautiful now!

Ethan Allen and Samuel Adams--maybe they're descendants of the originals (Revolutionary War patriots)?

The names I have the most trouble with are the "made-up" names, especially if they aren't spelled the way they sound. I wish I could remember some of them.

I went to school with a girl who was named Delicious. Ofcourse most of the males had other thoughts about this name, lol.
