Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
Also, took care of pt named Chetara. Yep, Mom admitted she named her daughter after the cartoon character from the Thundercats- and now that the daughter is a teenager, mom is still proud of that decision.
My next girl child will be called Sunshine Daydream. Call me weird, but I choose to give my child a name I like and find unique.
And remember, someone made all these names up at one point, its not like there are a set number that are OK, and the rest are *made up*
went to school with Dawn Sprinkle, and Tuesday Sprinkle and Spring Rose
a friend of mine has a son Shade and one son Sage and a daughter Corell (like the dinnerware)

I also had a teen mom who named her child Margarita......(sad).

I forgot to post the funniest name I've ever heard... Sam Hollowpeter.
I don't know if I've posted this on this particular thread (all sorts of strange baby name threads here on allnurses), but I believe that the strangest name that I've heard is Peregrine. I don't know if it's this part of the country, but this is a name that you don't hear about too much around here.
