What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

Coonception (actual spelling). I don't get it.

Specializes in Med onc, med, surg, now in ICU!.

There is a country somewhere, I can't remember which one, which has approval over baby names. When the parents register the child, the government can force them to change the child's name if it's something ridiculous or frivolous. I think it might be Denmark. Denmark wanted to bring in a "minimum IQ to breed" program, but it was deemed to be against human rights. I am all in favour, seeing some of the 'parents' I do!

I once worked in medical personnel, and saw a job application from a man called Dr Ivel.

Apparently it's pronounced EYE-vel, but it looked like EE-vel to me!

no, Austin Powers fans out there, he didn't want a salary of one million dollars.

But he didn't get the job either!:icon_chee

I've heard that France requires government approval on names. I used to think that was bad, but considering some of the awful names people give their children I am actually starting to support this idea.

we had one about 2 years ago, i can't remember the entire name, but it started: Bikiniwanahaltatopa...i think it ended in noundo. She meant it! Perhaps a drug screen would have been in order.

I was a receptionist and worked in pediatrics. We got all the new babies from the hospital next door....some pretty strange names...the one that stands out though is Lerolyn Jonquildonte. I will never forget that. Took me forever on the phone to get the spelling right. Also worked with a Spring Cloud who had a sister named Stormy.
