Our baby was stillborn... Please help me understand
Cooper Riley, what a beautiful name for a perfect soul. I too lost a baby and I take comfort in the thought that she was just tooo perfect for this earth, God had bigger plans for her. I can only hope you will share in this thought and comfort with me. My thoughts are with you!

Are nursing students allowed to give IV push meds?
I am an LPN in NC and we are allowed to hang IVPB, start IV's, give some IV pushes, we can not hang any drips, can not start blood but can monitor and maintain. We are not suppose to draw blood from PICC or central lines, but unfortunately some facilities alllow and encourage their LPN's to do so. I was told by an RN while I was in nursing school "yeah that is what they tell you in school but here in the real world you will have to do it." Not me! I'm not risking my license for any facility. :Santa2: Merry Christmas :Santa2:

Yes Its Official
Its official I am now an LPN :w00t: I am soo thankful! I found out yesterday and started my new role as LPN, insted of CNA, at the LTCF I have been working at for a while now. As I signed my name today with , LPN I actually shed a tear. It means so much to me to put that title behind my name, I like everyone of you worked so hard for that title and I am so proud. Thanks for listening! me, LPN

Same question/concern/fear everyone else has...
Hi all ! I took the nclex-pn here in North Carolina on Sept 29. Still no results. I'm getting a bit discouraged as it seems everyone else( fellow classmates) recieved their results via phone verification within a couple of days. I was cut off at 85 and have felt horrible about that. I don't think I did very well, almost felt unprepared when I got in front of the computer, even though I studied my * off. Was just wondering if any of you fellow NC board takers could give me a lil heads up on how long it took for you to get yoru results pass or fail. BTW NC does not participate in quick results but you are verifiable on the NCBON web or phone verification as soon as 48 hours after test taking. THANKS FOR ANY INPUT! :uhoh21:

question about promotion does it cause drama?
Hi everyone this is my my first time posting here, and actually my first time visiting the LPN/LVN corner glad I found it :) OK so heres my dilema... I am a new PN graduate and just took my boards on Thursday ( cut off at 85 so I have my fingers crossed :uhoh21: ) I have been a CNA at a LTC facility for about 7 months now. I have been offered a job there as a LPN, when I pass, but am unsure of the flack I would get from the other CNA's I would now have to supervise. I mean at the LTC I work in everyone knows there job and does it no one standing over your shoulder, but all the same I was once one of THEM now I'll be one of THOSE.... :rotfl: I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this before, even though I know promotions happen all over the place everyday. Just dont wanna start out on the wrong foot. Any imput would be helpful in my decision making ! THANKS AGAIN! :balloons:

male L&D nurses and vag exams
I am proud to say that my daughter was born into the loving, caring hands of a MALE L&D nurse! He was awesome. We all loved him. He took excellent care of all his patients. Then five years later when I had my L&D rotation in nursing school he was my preceptor! And all the laboring moms loved him as much as I did! :)
