Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
Well even though they did give the poor child that name, at least they didn't name the poor child stinky. that would have been much worse.how about "winky"....setting that poor kid up for lots of jokes.
I personally met a baby named "ESPN". Yep...just like the TV station. Pronounced "espen" but spelled ESPN. Mom said "his dad likes sports". No kidding :-) The amazing thing is, they seemed like normal people :-)
Oh, my favorite of the week? Bastien. Said too quickly and without enough volume at the end sounds remarkably like a naughty word. Poor kid...the playground is going to be a rough place for him.
How about. "La_A". They pronounced it "Ladasha"!
There are many different ones that I've heard but here's just a few:
Shithead (pronounced Sha thede)
Ozzy Osborne (First & middle)
Honesty
Skyler Ocean
Okay, I have a couple. My sister-in-law worked in a family shelter and there was a guy that periodically would show up with a different woman every couple of years. He would have a son and name them "Killer". He has 3 sons with the name of "Killer" from 3 different women. Next, there is a set of twin boys that when they were born, the mother took their names from her menu. She named them Orangejello and Lemonjello. Need I say more....
DASANI!!
Like... really, girl? Thirsty much?
Interesting article on names.
I know one of people mentioned in this article and her name was no hinderance to her...
