Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Tatanka was the Lakota word for 'buffalo'.
Yes, Tatanka is the Lakota Sioux word for 'big buffalo' or just 'buffalo'!
This was in South Dakota, I guess the mom liked it with an O better!
Just last week, we had a mom name her baby Le-a'. She said the dash was not silent. She pronounced it Ledasha. Some people can be so stupid! A couple of years ago, I had a patient name her baby boy "MonkeyviRus".
La-a
(hint---- the "dash" isn't silent)

Saw one on the census for our stepdown unit Da'Ron. I can't imagine the teasing that poor guy has endured.

Your highness.

Not to be confused with "Yurhinie". :)

I wonder if our unit secretary reads this thread. The other day we had a conversation where she said that she knew a child named Le-a pronounced Ledasha. She also personally knows kids named Shithead, Orangello, Abcde and Nosmo King. Gotta wonder where she hangs out!:icon_roll:lol2:
My daughter has a boy in her class named Urine...pronounced like Yu RION.
Should have known it was coming...........we had 3 deliveries last week that were boys named Barack!

Just curious - white or not?
Alternate spellings of this are on their way too - you just know it.
Also, expect a surge of little girls named Michelle, Malia, and Sasha.
I heard somewhere that the various spellings of "Hillary" were starting to make a comeback in the early 1990s, and after Bill Clinton was elected, totally dropped off the radar.
