What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I had a mom named Brandy. A few hours later I was introduced to her daughters: Tequilla, Tangueray, and Burbon. The resident wanted to know if that was what she was drunk on when conceiving?

Can't say much about Dunkin ;) but Crispin is a fairly common name in Latin America.

I just love this thread; thanks for all the laughs:yeah: I've worked in L&D a couple of years I thought the name "Royal Blue" as an entire first name was bad until I met a woman, who admitted to being under-educated, who wanted to name her daughter "Chlamydia" she said she just heard the word and thougt it was pretty, ahhhh! Can you imagine? She was pretty set on it; I had to tell her what it meant, needless to say she changed her mind.

I've personally known a Will Williams.

I used to work in a business where I saw a LOT of wierd names, but the only ones that I can remember are Orangejello (but no Lemonjello) , Queen Gaylord and Mai Ho.

The mom poured over baby name book after name book during labor. She had a lovely little boy. I went into the PP room to fill out the birth certificate and asked had she finally come up with a name. She was beaming with pride when she told me: Domineke Quiana Dishroom!! and we are going to call him DQ for short. This was in Texas where DQ is a small town institution. I just know that poor child has been scarred for life. I mean the last name alone was enough to bear but to be given a feminine & mispelled first name and your middle name was after synthetic silk........sheez!!

My father was literally a hillbilly. His father was a great believer in what he called "powerful" names. My oldest uncle was originally named Kaiser Wilhelm III (last name) and my dad was originally Warren Gamaliel Harding (last name).

My grandmother got the oldest one re-named Samuel John and my dad had his name legally changed to Warren Hardy when he joined the military.

Oh yeah my grandfather also tried to name the oldest girl Lulabella Coco Chanel (last name). That got changed to Lillian Mary thank heavens lol.

My family's pretty sane, but we do have a Phinaes Legend(Like Julia Roberts' Phineaus) and a Millie Grace. When I was touring a hospital, I saw a few patient charts and Alekzia Noellee(Alexia Noel ee) and Kayaia JuJu(Kai aya JewJew) jumped out at me! I went to middle school with a Crystal Clear, no joke. One of my friends cousins named her twin sons Puma and Jaguar.

names: female, pronounced female',

I was talking to my Grandma the other day, she recently retired from nursing and here are some of the unique names she's heard:

Wakinya, Wakinyan, LaDainian, TaTonka, Tonka Trucker, Frito Layke(After Frito Lay, because mom craved Frito's).

This was in a Nativa American Community so that explains the name that we consider odd! She said she worked with a nurse named Violet LoveLace!

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Tatanka was the Lakota word for 'buffalo'.
