I know this isn't a life-or-death concern, but I'm sick of all the work related crap (see what I did there?) in the staff bathroom. Some days I hardly have time to go pee, but when I do I don't want to see the latest falls statistics, or an advertisement to get my MSN, or some stupid poster about CAUTI's. I guess my favorite one lately is a poster on the door about how to prevent C-diff - in the employee bathroom! Seriously, do they think we're in there trying to spread C-diff to our co-workers?
I remember when we used to have magazines, or funny pictures of cats trying not to pee on themselves, in the staff bathroom, along with a few tampons and sometimes an Avon booklet. That way we could have 5 minutes without being attacked by hospital business. When did all that change? What's in your staff bathroom?
Instructions on how to wash your hands while singing happy birthday. I sure as heck hope nobody in there actually needs to be told how to wash their hands! There are always random notes like If You Took My Green Stethoscope I Want It Back Now No Questions Asked, and at the bottom of the note it's in my car I will return it Thursday.
I worked at a place that did this when I worked night shift. As far as I'm concerned the staff bathroom is a needed private space for employees, so I just removed everything posted and shredded it at night. They soon gave up posting in the bathroom. Staff are allowed breaks and should not be forced to look at workplace propaganda on their break time.
Our official staff bathroom is teeny tiny. It will occasionally have a newsletter hanging on the wall but more often than not, there's nothing in there but a toilet, a sink, a paper towel dispenser, a soap dispenser, and a trash can. The other bathrooms are shared with the public. They are decorated a little nicer but still contain nothing interesting.
Now my last job...psych facility with staff only bathrooms...you never knew what you find in there. Jokes, comics, books, magazines, funny pictures, anything to relieve the tension. It was great!

When I worked at the state psych hospitals, the stuff in the bathrooms was hilarious! We took great care of our patients and were still encouraged to enjoy life.
