Ours last year was a Walmart card for $50. Probably the same this year.

We get a $25 gift certificate to the hospital gift shop. This can be exchanged to be used at local shops in the area as well. In the past, when I worked on the surgical floor, the surgeons bought all the staff on that floor $50 gift certificates which were really nice. For the most part, its just been the $25. It sounds like Im pretty lucky compared to what i've read!

Specializes in Med/surg, ER/ED,rehab ,nursing home.

NO BONUS....I think we are getting a polo shirt. not my style. Also sometimes free food, if you have time to get it. A couple of years the department heads cooked for us..Now that was YUMMY. But I have never received cash like the hubby does on his engineering job.

Specializes in Cardiovascular.

This has been entertaining. I specially like the little quotes at the end of the messages. We get a $25 gift certificate, and $25 to the company store. They have useful things like flashlights, blankets, etc. I put them in the truck or use them when we go camping. We used to get a fruit box as well which I liked very much. I always hear someone complain about the amount and the quality of the gifts. In some cases it would never be enough for some people.

I am happy I get to send my kids to college and I like the work (interventional cardiology) and the folks I work with. :heartbeat :redbeathe

Specializes in NICU , Mother-Baby, Pediatrics,.
never got anything in my hospital years, except a xmas party with free drinks... :) at my current corporate job, 10% of my annual salary.

where do you work!!.......i need that kind of bonus

i am a mexican nurse and for 10 year i worked for the mexican national oil company and i got good bonus at the end of the year, in summer and in january 6th which is the national nursing day, but in america i haven't worked for any company that gives that kind of bonus.however , for the rest of my friends (nurses) working at other hospitals they did not get anything.......i think they were even charged for the christmas time and if they ever did not show up to work any holiday shift they just got fired, that easy, anyways, happy holidays enjoy your bonus.

I don't do nursing anymore. I am doing medical transcription. This is my second Christmas. Most bonuses go by years of service. Last year I had been with them for 3 months and I got $50. Plus we get another bonus (based on the years income) in February which was about $300 (remember, I'd only been there about 6 months).

I'm excited to see what this year holds!

At hospital--nothing, at the ECF-$50.

Bonus? you mean, some nursing facilities actually give bonuses; all we get is more paperwork to do. It would be nice to believe that the companies we work for actually thought of us as human beings and not just a name on a slip of paper that allow them to keep thier doors open.

Specializes in PCU, ICU, PACU.

$100 + turkey/ham/fruit basket of your choice

Needless to say I was very very very happy!

:balloons: I have been a nurse for 17 years and the only gifts/bonus I have ever recieved in the various hospitals is a cup, a bag or a pin so good luck!

Our company president and his wife are taking the staff out to a nice rest. for lunch (their treat) and giving us the afternoon off, with pay. Very nice place to work!! :yelclap:

Wow, we don't get bonuses do we? I worked many years in the government and although we did not get a Christmas bonus we received a Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) the first of each year and up to 10% of our wages at each anniversery. Other places I received nothing or as noted by some a coupon for the cafeteria. I worked for some cardiologist's and they gave us each a crisp $100.00 bill and usually a gift certificate fro ham or other groceries. Unfortunately their pay wasn't that great otherwise. Most places had some kind of gift exchange that you could participate if you wanted.

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

We get a christmas party, BYOB and have to pay to attend.

When I was a legal assistant, I got $1,000, a real nice party and a week off. Why was it I left law? Someone please remind me.
