On the more upbeat side of nursing, what's your favorite type of patient?
Mine is a cheerful, independent, and interesting old lady or old man, the older the better, who is sharp as a tack. I really like to find out more about them and their life experiences. I like the intelligent ones who have had interesting lives and careers, and who are well adjusted and personable.

Same as you. Also the compliant ones!
But, gotta love those pleasantly confused patients too.
Yes, some of the pleasantly confused pts are extremely lovable.
Yes, a pt with a thoughtful, interesting, and appreciative family is a delight.

Not a nurse yet by my mom works in the er and she loves the dimentia patients.
Her work place is kinda hostile (docs fighting with nurses etc) and going crazy right now so she said she would go in with her dimentia patient to do her charting.
DNR is always a plus, I agree.

Ones with normal breath sounds . Abnormal sounds are something I'm still working on.
I like the ones that need some kind of emotional support and help in sorting out feelings/needs. Maybe a pt who's really anxious and I can help the pt talk himself down. I like finding comunity agencies that can help after they're discharged and finding options for the pt/family. Admittedly, it's hard to find time some shifts, but you asked what kind I like :)

i just love, love, LOVE those sassy, saucy, cussing little old ladies.
you know, those who are using the 'f' word at the top of their raspy, sob voices- as they hem and haw, wildly shaking their pointed finger at you, face contorted, weighing in at 80 lbs soaking wet.
just love those little missies....the more they're a spitfire, the more i gush and smile and beam....
