Hello Everyone! I just got accepted into nursing school and I was wondering what is the best book bag to carry all these large books around in lol. Thanks! God Bless!
If you rent books I'm a huge fan of www.chegg.com. Rental price includes free return shipping. Just keep the box and at the end of the semester print a return mailing slip. I've saved a ton of money.
Try bookrenter they do free shipping both ways and they let you chose how long you want the book. If you have a short class you can chose to rent it less time for cheaper.
I like to look at all book rental websites to get the cheapest deals. So far bookrenter kills them all.
Lots of girls at the University that I'll start in August got rolling bags from the local arts and craft store (hobby lobby or michaels) those are the stores here in Texas. Anyway they are cute & they have lots of compartments since they are like craft carriers. This one is just an example:Yarnology Black Polka Dot Rolling Yarn Backpack Tote | Shop Hobby Lobby
That's something I already have! Just have to take all my scrapbooking stuff out! Great idea.
Before using any book rental sites for your nursing textbooks, keep in mind that many schools lecture from multiple book per semester and that many of those books are used for the entire 2 years. Rental sites generally only allow you to rent for 1 semester. By the time you rent books 4 times, you will have paid for just buying them in the first place.
I just bought what was apparently the last backpack in town from Walmart and I hate it. My neck is sore by the time I get home on a class heavy day. It's an all right bag- lots of pockets- but not supportive enough for 20+ lbs of books. I am definitely going to go hard core nerd and get myself a rolling bag next time.
***Warning: Caveat**** All the ebooks that I've seen are barely cheaper than renting or even buying the hard-copy. I used to rent or use ebooks but I now buy all my textbooks as used hard-copies. You can usually resell your books for the original used price and make your money back. Ebooks usually have an expiration date, so you are essentially renting the book. Also, most college bookstores also have a matching price policy. If you can find the textbook cheaper at some other place, the college bookstore will match the price. My uni does and I saved over $400 last semester!!![/quote']Where do you go to school, cuz I'd like to go there! Lol our school lets you sell your books back but you definitely don't get anywhere near what you spent on the book. You may get $30 back for a $150 book. It sucks. I usually just keep all my science class books, like micro, bio, A&P and nutrition. I spent a lot on those books but since they're binder books, they won't accept them back so I just keep them.
I buy used books on amazon and sell them again on amazon, usually for about the same amount unless a new edition comes out (in which case I still get something for it whereas the bookstore would probably not take it at all). Lots of people rent or go for ebooks these days but I figure buying and selling this way is the best way to avoid losing money in the long run. The school bookstore is pretty much always a big screwover. I don't think mine does a price match but it's something to look into for sure.
If you could design your dream bag for school, what features would it have? I've got a little while until I start in-person classes (I'm doing my prereqs online so far), plus I've got some sewing skills. So I might try making my own. Here's what I've got so far:
Pockets: for computer, main for books, wallet/phone, pencils, water bottle (maybe on outside), misc (paper clips, headphones), snacks.
Other: waterproof, key hook, comfy strap (if cross-body style), semi-rigid.
Other fabulous features?

I would actually have TWO drink pockets on the outside- one for coffee, one for water! (or maybe three for coffee, lol)
If it's an actual backpack it should have a strap to go across your chest and middle. That's what I was hoping to find when school was starting but all I could find was the crappy one from walmart. The cross straps really help support your back (think hiking backpack).
