What do you wear to nursing school?

SInce you are going for financial aid information, I would just be presentable. (clothes ironed (no short shorts etc., hair combed, and walk with shoulders up.....oh my,!) (Smile)

You will not look like a "dorK', I am sure.

Re: "business suit" It is usually thought of as a black or a dark blue 2 piece attire similar to a traditional lawyer would wear or "your going to church clothes")...Lots Of Love

I just thought that I'd add my two cents....

Everytime I've gone to the Financial Aid Office I have worn whatever I wore to class that day, whether it was shorts or jeans or whatever. They cannot discriminate against you because of what you are wearing. They can only base your financial need on your finances for the previous year: 2001.

As for our nursing program, we wear regular clothes for most of our classes:rolleyes: but for our clinicals, we wear white, yes white, scrubs. What a complete bummer because white is such a horrible color - dirt, etc.

Good luck on the financial aid and scheduling appointment. Just wondering...how come you need to have someone help you with your scheduling? Can't you just do it during registration?

Our uniform for clinical is dark green pants or skirt, white button down shirt and white vest with dark green trim and the college logo on the upper right side. White shoes.

As far as Financial Aid, I wear whatever I wear to school that day. They aren't there to see what you wear.

Business dress is a dark blue or black pantsuit or skirt and jacket. Something professional looking.

I can assure you, you will NOT look like a dork and you are certainly not helpless!

I have noticed in the school I plan to attend that the students already attending seem to wear nicer clothing. I guess I will have to snoop a little. As far as scheduling goes. I don't know what you mean either? I never mentioned it in my post?

From what i have seen when i visited the school i plan to go to .The student dress pretty nice so i guess i need to go school shopping this year too. :eek: That will be interesting.Then my daughter starts kindergraden in september too so we have to go school shopping together.

For clinicals, we wear Forest green scrub tops, with white pants, stockings, and white only shoes-- no sneakers with other colors, just white.

Hair up off the face, one pair of stud earrings, watch, wedding rings only, no other jewelry.

For clinicals we wear a white uniform with navy blue piping and the school logo on the left chest area in navy and yellow. We are allowed to wear leather tennis shoes as long as the logo is not too big or too colorful. For class we wear jeans, etc. The days we go to the hospital for collecting patient info for the next days clinical, we have to dress nice, no jeans, shorts,etc. And we have to wear our lab coats,also.

The school I might be attending (for PSW) - has money set in our tuition - they offer three styles of uniform - white and dark blue thin vertial strips, dark blue, and a purple maive... and for the other courses they have uniforms but different for the different courses... the blue white strip is standard for all courses though.

i try to look professional in class no shorts only long pants and short or long sleeve shirts ( no tanks) i'm older and getting references are difficult. i buy everything on clearance sale. however school will require very expensive uniforms from special company i don't know how i will afford 500 dollars for 2 pants and shirts. maybe the school gets a percentage of money or something. i pay for everything myself so am wondering how to pay for it.

I've been told that the school I will be attending wears purple. I like that idea. No white for me PLEASE! I already avoid white clothes due to the children in the house! Oh well.

At the Comm. College that I did my prereq work at a lot of people dressed very nice and a lot dressed in jeans and t's. It isn't about being dressed the best. Your work is more important. Just be presentable and relax, it isn't that bad, really.

For class, I would say as long as you look presentable and are comfortable, you will be fine. When I have class, I usually dress casual and in layers (our building can be very chilly....they crank up the A/C, even in winter! :chuckle). For my clinical I wear business casual and my lab coat (master's level clinical). For undergrad clinicals, we had uniforms....white or powder blue oxford cloth shirts and white or blue pants, we could wear any combo except all white. And our short lab coat on top. Every school has its own requirements, you have to check with them.

Tonicareer....I can't believe they have the gall to charge you that much for 2 pants and 2 shirts. It's outrageous! :angryfire. You should look around your school for flyers, maybe students who are about to graduate are willing to sell their old uniforms. Try to get in touch with former students as well (within the last year or two)---you might be able to save some $$ that way. Good luck
