I want to really exp camp nursing, but can i have a regular job?

I worked for Mollen Immunization Clinics in the fall this year. I don't have a job at the moment. In addition to camp, I'm involved in a couple community organizations that take up a lot of my time in the spring, so I'm not really looking. It doesn't look good to potential employers when I'm unavailable Monday and Thursday nights, Saturday mornings, the last 2 weeks of April, and oh yeah, June 1 - August 15.

Specializes in Home Health (PDN), Camp Nursing.

Pediatric Home Care is my regular job. Along with a few other odds and ends.

Also pediatric home health. I'm PRN so I just bow out for the weeks I need. Last summer I worked w several nurse educators off for the summer. Camp nursing attracts lots of school nurses, too.

Specializes in Peds, School Nurse, clinical instructor.

I am a shool nurse and a nursing instructor. I take time off from instructing to work camp.

If you are a PRN nurse in a SNF then maybe they'll let you take the summer off. If you are going to take a FT or even PT job, then they probably would not want you leaving for so long. Maybe they'll let you take unpaid time, it never hurts to ask! Also some camps have 2, 3, or 4 week sessions.
