What are the top 10 diagnoses you manage?

Published

Hi Med-Surg nurses! I am a strictly peds nurse who is starting her career over in adult med-surg. What are the top 10 diagnoses that you deal with on a daily basis on a med-surg floor? (The floor I am considering accepting a position on does not take any ortho surgeries, but everything else is fair game). What should I get familiar with? TIA!

I guess it depends on what your hospital does, I see mostly Cholorectal and ortho, but most of the patients come with accompanying commorbidities like pressure ulcers, diabetic wounds, HTN, COPD, CHF etc. My hospital doesnt do any OB or peds. We also administer Chemo on my floor but I am not certified...YET!!!

Anything to do with the liver is a good refresher. I've had a lot of ESLD lately, cirrhosis, NASH and lots of chronic renal failures too lately
