What do you think of kaplan college ??!

I am going through Bauder which is affiliated with Kaplan and it was worth it for me I will be done in 53 days plus it's Kaplan so you NCLEX prep is included in your tuition

I have heard really bad comments about kaplan financially and academically, I'm enrolled to start in jan but I'm afraid that later on I can't find a job

I had a horrible experience with Kaplan when I was doing an MBA program with them. What a scam. I was pregnant two times through my program and asked for time off - it wasn't granted. I got a C in a class...they dropped me from the program. It was my LAST class before graduation. Basically flushed $30,000 down the toilet. Really really think about it....

Never tried Kaplan as a program. I used Excelsior for my sciences...Find out what your local college accepts before taking the leap!

No college is going to accept Kaplan or any other trade/vocational school, BUT you can get your RN and start working while you continue your education towards a BSN.

Vocational schools tend to be faster than college, but cost more money.

Do you want to spend more money or more time?

Is it a waste of money and time ?! I need help I want to finish fast my goal is to become an Rn but in my college there is a high demand for the nursing program I need like 6 biology classes and I can only take 2 per year because there's no summer sessions or winter session that's why I'm looking for a good nursing shool but I want to go straight for the program!!

I think you are speaking of Kaplan College ( as mentioned in your subject) not Kaplan University.

Reading a couple of the other comments here and see that they are speaking of "online" classes, they must be referring to Kaplan University and not Kaplan College.

Which location and which program(s) have you looked into? You mention getting your RN, so I'm assuming you are either looking at San Diego or Las Vegas?

I am a former grad of a VN program and I start the LVN-RN step up in two weeks with Kaplan College.

As far as the time, expense and so forth. This is a very personal decision based on your circumstances.

As far as the quality of instruction. As with any school--there are good teachers and some that you may not click with.

Yes im talking about kaplan college in San Diego and I don't know what to do really my goal is to have a master after being a Rn but I heard that if I graduate from kaplan it will be hard to go to a university because they don't revalidate except phonix I think that's the only one and their classes are online and I don't like online classes its so hard to decide because I really want to study nursing but in my local college that is so demanding and I'm barely starting my biology classes and need like 6 to get into the Rn program and that's a lot of time that's the only reason I'm looking for a private school but also I don't want a have a licensed that university's don't accept to continue my education

There are other colleges that take Kaplan, but all that I've confirmed with are on line as this is my personal choice of learning. The exception to this is West Coast University in Ontario, Ca. They are WASC accredited therefore classes transfer. The price tag on the other hand is insanely high( Over 100k for a BSN) They do not offer an ADN. They have an LVN-BSN and a straight BSN. They took my Kaplan credits as well as all of my GE courses from a DETC school, but in the end, they were still too expensive.

If being on line is an issue, then it sounds like you either choose a very expensive school like WCU, or you stick to the traditional route:-)

I'm planning on doing the kaplan san diego program. Isn't the only real issue having the prereqs transfer? You'll still have your rn license. Don't national and even sdsu have rn bsn programs for non degree rn's? I was thinking that maybe you'll just have to take the prereqs again. At national university the prereqs don't take long to finish anyway because everything is accelerated there.

You are correct regarding the Prereqs, however, the nursing classes are affected as well since Kaplan's nursing program is not accredited with CCNE. I transferred all of my Gen Ed's and sciences in leaving me with nursing classes only, but SDSU and National will still not accept the nursing classes from what I understand (Unless something has changed). There are many schools that will accept the transfers, but one would need to check ahead of time to ensure transferability.
