What do your students call you!

I am just curious what do the students at the school call the school nurse? I think that children should respect their "elders" aka Mrs./Ms/Mr. but what about the 20 something year old nurses?? I am a nurse on a surgical floor now and I am trying to get into school nursing, and then it hit me! Will someone be calling me Ms. (last name)?? It's funny to think about :)

Awww I think "Nurse Jessica" is cute....my problem is I have a hard first name and an even harder last name haha

I guess I should just wait to see if I get the job before worrying about it too much!

I am Nurse Mandy to everyone at school- administration, teachers, students, and parents.

I am a health assistant at a elementery school I am only 22 and not married yet so my little kiddos call me Miss Ashley ( which is my first name).:) works for me

It doesn't matter where I go---I hear "Hey, that's my Nurse Jessica!!"! I live in a small town, in a small county, and I work in a small, very close knit elementary school- I see my students EVERYWHERE!!

Specializes in school RN, CNA Instructor, M/S.

i have always gone by Nurse Noreen! it separates me from the teachers and recognizes my responsibilities and I love every minute of every crazy day!!!

Miss Amanda or Nurse Amanda. It was my preference. I am in my late 20's and really prefer using my first name!:nurse:

I don't see that the kids using my first name is disrespectful, especially if I prefer it that way. Like I said before, I'm only 23, and I would just feel awkward if they called me Mrs. LastName

Just curious for those of you who are using first names, Miss Mary, or Nurse Nellie, do any of the teachers do the same? Not criticizing, just curious.

Our teachers all use last names, our secretaries and lunch staff use first names.

All of the teachers use Mrs/Mr/Miss Last Name, and our office staff uses either.

All adults (staff, parents, etc...) are referred to by Mr./Mrs./Ms/Dr. whatever and their last names.

By the kids, by the staff when talking to or in in front of the kids.

This is what is proper. I'm called Mrs. Girard or Nurse Girard sometimes. Same for everyone from

the cafeteria workers on up to the principal.

My administrator always refers to the students in the same way. I think it gives him a bit of formality:

"Mr. Brooks, you dropped something" rather than "Bobby, pick up that trash."

When I'm addressing the staff in front of or to the kids, I use Mrs/Mr Last Name...otherwise, I use either....
