I am just curious what do the students at the school call the school nurse? I think that children should respect their "elders" aka Mrs./Ms/Mr. but what about the 20 something year old nurses?? I am a nurse on a surgical floor now and I am trying to get into school nursing, and then it hit me! Will someone be calling me Ms. (last name)?? It's funny to think about :)

Yes it's "Mrs. XXXX." It took me a while to get used to... esp when you're in the grocery store & out of nowhere, you hear, "Hi Mrs XXXX" coming from behind you.
Still very strange to me.

Recently I have told my friends and family that they can call me "Aw But" because that seems to be my name. My full name being "Aw, but Miss". Seriously, most of the kids call me "Miss" (no name behind that, just "Miss" or "Miz"), some of them call me Nurse or Nurse Sara. I absolutely refuse to be called Mrs (Last name). Before working here, I worked at an Army hospital where we all HAD to call each other Mrs/Miss Last Name because our supervisor was CRAZY (and I don't me in a good way). I got called on the carpet one day because I had befriended another nurse and accidently called her by her first name in the presence of our super.

I am usually called Nurse or "Miz" as well. I think very few of the students (and maybe even the staff for that matter) actually know my real name! I kind of like being referred to as Nurse.
Our clerk is 19 years old and is referred to as Miss So-and-so by students and staff. It is common in the world of education.

Mrs. "last name", Nurse, Nurse "last name" and Miss Nurse or Miss "first name". I do not allow them to call me by my first name only. Anything else is fine!

Usually Nurse Lastname, though my last school was special ed and i went by Nurse firstname. I had always considered how confusing it would be to get a doctorate and be Dr. So and so, school nurse.

Since I have a 10-letter Greek last name, I go by an easy shortened version. And because I live in the Deep South they all preface that with Miz. So I'm "Miz D___". Except when I'm Hey, Nurse!

i'm one of those "20 something school nurses"....23 to be exact :)
all the kids (and staff here, haha!) call me "nurse jessica". everyone else is "mrs. last name" but i'm just not comfortable with that, my last name is hard to spell and say correctly, and i would just rather be "nurse jessica"!

I go with Mrs. Lastname. I never really liked it before, but I feel I deserve the same respect as the teachers.

I was 21 when I first started school nursing and kids would always tell me that I look like a student. Despite that they would always talk and call me with respect. The younger kids usually call me Nurse Ziba and some (who don't know my first name) calls me Miss or Nurse.
opppsss sorry double post..
