Hello! I was recently admitted into my University's Nursing Program and have signed up for classes starting this fall! I am so excited! I worked very hard during my pre-reqs to get into the program and am now chomping at the bit for nursing classes to start!
Don't get me wrong though, I am loving my summer away from school! No droning professors, no persistent homework and no long nights studying!! But, at the same time, I want to be prepared for the upcoming semester. We have a mandatory orientation in July, so I'm sure I will be getting tons of information then. But what do you all think I should be doing during the summer months to prepare myself?
I do have a full-time summer job (not health-field related, I'm afraid) and I have been working on a few scholarship applications. But I always feel like I should be doing more! Anyway, I'd love some opinions!
Thank you! :)

Also...have fun this summer.
Do nothing. Do the bare minimum. Focus on relaxing, your friends, your family, and yourself. Everyone told me to do this before nursing school, and I insisted on brushing up on my pre-req stuff (anatomy, med term, etc). I wish I hadn't. Nursing school as exhausting, and by the end, I was BURNT OUT. Save yourself the added exhaustion and ENJOY YOUR FREEDOM while it lasts.

Thank you! That is what everyone I know who is already in nursing school has been telling me. I know how the original poster feels, somewhat terrified and feeling like I need to be using the time this summer to review, learn and get ahead. I think we are just so in that mind frame from all the long hard study hours of pre reqs trying to get into nursing school. It is hard to put on the brakes and just RELAX but I am going to try! I'm sure I will know better what to expect after orientation June 3rd. I hope to come out of it more excited and less nervous about starting nursing school in August.

Dimensional Analysis, A & P review (especially body systems), and normal lab values. These are all things that don't require you to have some base of knowledge related to nursing (that you will get in fundamentals and medsurg).
