If you had a nurse who was not registered in your jurisdiction and thus could not have patient contact, how would you interact with them? Preferably paediatric nursing but general ward is fine. I am English teacher and wish to put some real content into my lesson. Thanks in advance.
OP, I don't know if this thread can be salvaged, but I went through the entire mess and found several helpful posts that you may have missed. Forgive the boring list, but here they are (post numbers):
#11, 12, 16, 23, 24, 28, 30, 33, 34, 35, 43, 46, 53, 54, 55, 60, 61, 64, 65, 76 and 77
I say you may have missed them because they address the original question directly or ask for clarification. Things you now say never happened. Also, you didn't "like" any of them which is, frankly, rude if you saw them. If someone made a helpful post not my list, I apologize for the oversight. BTW 21/90 ain't bad for this topic and this audience.
I love AN!!! You guys really made my day go from crappy to awesome in the few minutes it took me to read the responses.
To the original poster, I hate to sound like a sarcastic and rude RN from New York, but I wouldn't want to be held responsible for another nurse.
If my hospital sponsored nurses from other countries to shadow nurses, I would like to think they would also provide an intrepeter. Yet, it doesn't seem like there would be enough time during the shift to really have a dialogue or answer questions.
Even as an English speaking nursing student shadowing an RN I felt awkward and out of place. Mainly because of being inexperienced.
I don't know what else to say. I hope this nurse gains what they hope to gain. I couldn't imagine being sent to Japan to shadow a nurse for a day.
