I am beating myself up because I got two A- which will put my GPA down to a 3.94. I was shooting for a 4.0, but it looks like I won't achieve that. I know a 4.0 isn't necessary to get into nursing school, but I'm afraid that my GPA will hurt me.
Am I being too hard on myself? What is/was your GPA? Did you make it (if you know) into a nursing program?
Thanks :)
Well, you have continued to misunderstand me. I am sorry you hate this site so much. Maybe you should read some of the threads about nursing school drama, If you can't handle what you consider rude then maybe you should read some threads about what people have experienced during nursing school as well as their first year(s) on the job.. I will only tell you the truth. You only beat yourself up about your grades, nobody else, including me, did that.
Seriously? I mean really? Have you read anything I wrote before replying to me?!!?!? I never beat myself up about my grades. I understand why I have my grades and I'm proud of the grades Ive gotten these last 2 semesters. Its people with 3.9 GPAs on here that are beating themselves up about their grades with I find sad and pathetic. If you want a 4.0 you need to put in what it takes to get that.. I find it in bad taste that there are people complaining about their 3.95 or getting a B. I never complained about my grades. I was explaining what happened. Where you took it from that to me beating myself up I have no idea but why don't you just leave me the **** alone. K?
I know how catty and bratty nurses are. My husband is a convalescent home admin. I've been to beauty school - I've worked in a salon. I can hold my own. Problem is with those who think they know everything or think they know ME when they have no clue that I cannot stand.
On a side note: I never said I don't care about my grades. Stop putting words in my mouth. Again, I was explaining what happened and what I have to do because of it. Can you quote my anywhere saying I don't care about my grades? I believe I already explained the grade situation. This is so unbelievable. I mean I'm arguing with some person who could be a 50 year old man living in his mothers basement pretending to be a college student. Anyway - I'd have replied to your PM but for some reason I'm unable to so I thought I'd throw that out there.

Funny, I know EXACTLY how you feel...
Maybe you should use that 4.0 head of yours before opening your mouth. This site is full of holier than thou/Im better than you students. If the field of nursing if filled by people like you maybe I should go into a different field. Last thing I want is to work with a bunch of stuck up brats. Good bye and be careful because that attitude of yours WILL catch up with you in the end.
You have obviously understood me just as much as I understood you. You don’t know me, I don’t think I know everything and I am not stuck up, and I didn't say anything that warranted your attacking my character.
I thought that this was beating yourself up…
Im sitting at a 2.07. Yup. Not good.I signed up for classes twice (2001 and 2004) and didn't attend or drop which means when I decided to actually GO to school I was starting with a bunch of Fs and one W. The good thing is I'm re-taking all those classes (will finish all but 1 this semester) and my new grade overrides my old one. The bad thing is the W is in anatomy. Even when I re-do it and even if I get an A the W still counts as an "F" when I apply for the nursing program (at this particular school)
I was told the classes I HAVE to get As in are Eng and the 3 Bio Sci classes. This is going to be an uphill battle.[/quote]
No need to defend yourself, you already did.
I stand by my original comment and still don’t understand how it was rude, because for many people it is true. It wasn't a personal attack on you, just insight as to how others you will be competing against do think. And the truth although sometimes hard to swallow isn’t always directed at you personally, just something to consider. It’s as simple as that. And just so you know this site is an AWSOME place for support. I am sorry that you felt like I was unsupportive.
Think of it this way, what if nobody ever told you something potentially vital for nursing program admission? Ignorance is bliss? I think not!! Would you rather go into something fully prepared for the worst, or unprepared for the worst?
3.7, but I got a A in organic chemistry =D. Im going to tackle down Physics based calculus honors and Calculus honors soon.
I got to beat people with a 4.0, or I can never face myself
I love 4.0 students though, they are alway crazy, they take calculus 3 for fun, calculus based statistics for fun and tell me to join them in the fun even though it's not require for nothing; most of them are going for their doctor degrees too haha.
Well i am finished with all my pre-req's and came out with a 3.25 gpa. Im 52 yrs. Old and thought id try for a nursing career late in life, but after seeing all these gpa's im a little nervous. My school takes 50% gpa and 50% psb scores. Maybe with alot of prayer ill get in. I got a's and b's but one c in math. Maybe ill have to take the math over. Any suggestions? If not a prayer will be fine. I hope the best for all of you.

I share your birth year Amybeth... and am completing my final two pre-reqs now.
If you don't make the cut at that school, your GPA is still plenty high enough to apply at one of the many schools that place into their programs by lottery... so please don't think that your plans can't be realized.

Hi blue. Thanks for the encouragement. Im excited about nursing and hopefully we will still have a long career ahead of us. While im waiting for (the letter) im finishing up a phlebotomy course , thought maybe i could do that while im waiting and also would give me a part time job when i am choosen for clinicals. I am doing my l.p.n. Then hopefully will bridge to r.n. Nice to hear from someone with the same birth year. Keep me posted on how your doing. Thanks again, i needed that.

Toxic, your grades are FANTASTIC! Be proud of yourself.
FYI, I just had an appointment today to switch my major to nursing. I still have 1 more pre-req to take, but I have a 4.0 overall from previous classes and pre-reqs. I was accepted to change my major to nursing, and the interviewer told me that as long as I get an A or B in my last pre-req (and a good NLN score), then I am basically a shoo-in. Of course this differs between schools but just wanted to give you a little reassurance - your grades are great and I bet you'll be fine.
