What is your pre-nursing GPA?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am beating myself up because I got two A- which will put my GPA down to a 3.94. I was shooting for a 4.0, but it looks like I won't achieve that. I know a 4.0 isn't necessary to get into nursing school, but I'm afraid that my GPA will hurt me.

Am I being too hard on myself? What is/was your GPA? Did you make it (if you know) into a nursing program?

Thanks :)

I have a 4.0 and I better be accepted into nursing school!

3.82 Nursing Pre-requ's

3.56 Overall GPA

I apply in March and I am FINALLY beginning to feel nervous. Nervous I won't get in. Nervous I WILL get in. LOL. Now I know where all the worriers are coming from. I'm getting really anxious.

Mine is 3.59 right now with only a few classes left to go - In my case they don't really figure GPA in as long as you get at least a "C" average as far as getting into nursing school goes. I'm still trying to get the highest grades I can anyway - I just think it looks better if you can say that you excelled or at least did very well. My first two semesters I missed getting a 4.0 by one percentage point in one class (anatomy & physiology - ended up with a high "B" - 89%) and ended up with what I've got now a semester later. I don't feel too bad about it because I also work full-time, and have a lot of other things going besides school that can at times be somewhat distracting. Believe me, a 3.94 is nothing to be ashamed of - a lot of these classes (almost all of mine so far, in fact) are actually pretty hard - I haven't really had one class that I could honestly call an "easy" class. I'm willing to bet most of yours have been that way too. Congratulations so far, and keep up the good work.

Specializes in PCU, Med-Surg/Tele, Psychiatric.

Right now my nursing prerequisite GPA is a 3.72

I have three classes left that I am taking next semester. So hopefully if I do as well in them as I hope I will be applying to nursing schools with a 3.82

My classes have all been difficult, too.

And thank you for the congratulations :) I'm working so hard!

My school doesn't have A+ or A-, it's just A,B,C, etc. I had a 4.0 and just got in to nursing school. But my school did not even consider my overall GPA. They only looked at my A&P and Micro grades as consideration. I think the cutoff is at 2.5, but I am at a community college.

There are many things that are looked at in consideration beyond your GPA, I'm sure. And a 3.94 is still INSANELY good. So don't sweat it!:yeah:

Thank you! That makes me feel great!!:)

you are definitely being too hard on yourself. that is an amazing GPA. my GPA right now is a 3.8. and don't be so worried about it not being exactly a 4.0, most schools prefer students who have slightly slower GPAs (like what yours is to around 3.7) it shows them that you have character. So don't worry about it. In fact, your GPA is perfect.:yeah:

Specializes in Surgical/Trauma ICU.

I have a 4.0 in prereqs so far (i still have quite a few left, i'm taking anatomy now :banghead:)

3.74 overall.

Well right now my GPA is 3.385 but it's not considered bad since it's my first semester and I still have about two more semesters to pull my gpa up to at least a 3.5, I'm actually not too worried. I only got the 3.3 because one of my stupid professors ruined my shot at a 4.0 and gave me a C when I got an A in everything else. Oh well though, I'm pretty confident my GPA will be good enough. My school doesn't require you to reapply if you're down as pre-nursing. You just need the GPA and do well on their Nursing entrance exam.

I did transfer to the college I'm at now and the GPA doesn't even transfer, just the grades as long as they were a C or better and they only use their school's GPA for consideration.

3.83...4 classes left to go

Im sitting at a 2.07. Yup. Not good. :crying2:

I signed up for classes twice (2001 and 2004) and didn't attend or drop which means when I decided to actually GO to school I was starting with a bunch of Fs and one W. The good thing is I'm re-taking all those classes (will finish all but 1 this semester) and my new grade overrides my old one. The bad thing is the W is in anatomy. Even when I re-do it and even if I get an A the W still counts as an "F" when I apply for the nursing program (at this particular school)

I was told the classes I HAVE to get As in are Eng and the 3 Bio Sci classes. This is going to be an uphill battle.
