What to do if can't pass LPN exit exam but have diploma?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

Hi, I have posted questions previously regarding my situation and would like some more input please. I graduated from LPN school in July . I have my diploma and transcripts however my school won't send my information to the Board of nursing until I pass the dreaded ATI exit exam. I have 3 tries to pass and failed it the first time and am petrified to take it again. My question is this. (I live in Ohio by the way) Is there any way to get around the exit exam so that I can sit for my boards? Can I take my transcripts and diploma to another state to qualify to sit for the boards there and then transfer my license back to Ohio? I know its a long shot but any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I know there are a few states that I may be able to do something like that.

I found that the NCLEX study questions were different from the HESI which was in turn different from the NCLEX exam.

But in all of them there were always 2 answers that seemed right but of course only one answer. These exams are all a test of your critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize.

Sorry, other than practicing NCLEX style questions I don't know what to offer you for help.

I can obtain my own and the truth is, the cost really isin't even an issue for me. The thing is, I just didn't know where to start. I know that ERI and ATI have merged companies but they still maintain separate websites ( I found that out by calling)...But what do I need exactly? So confusing. Just need to know where to start, I guess.

Unfortunately, no. I had never even heard of ERI/ATI until I read the front of the exam booklet. Way to prepare your students! :angryfireOnce I started browsing through this site I became aware that alot of schools use this company year-round to prepare students for the types of questions that they ask but our school doesn't offer that option to their students. There was a end of the year 3-day NCLEX REVIEW that didn't begin to touch the types of questions that were being asked on that exam! I totally breezed through the review and always reviewed using the cds online..I think it was Saunders. The exit exit exam is a completely different animal. I felt like they was more than one answer to the questions and nothing was straightforward but then again, nothing ever is however I felt that the NCLEX questions were straightforward, even the book I have with the new format questions (check all that apply) wasn't as hard to understand. I 'm starting to get the feeling that I am royally screwed. I have a really good job now making more than I would as a new grad nurse but I MISS MY PATIENTS!!!!! Does anyone have any practice codes they would be willing to 'lend' me?

I think that the practice codes for the ATI exam are copyrighted material and as such, can't be "lent." Can you obtain your own?

traumaRus is correct, the practice codes for ATI are not to be 'lent'. I would contact my school, because from what I remembered, ATI codes were provided by our program director, only. In fact, ATI may even go as far as to assign codes depending on geographical areas, or are doled out to certain programs. Also, I want to say that it is not really a good idea to obtain any codes from participating on the Internet. You don't know what is being done with them, if or how one can be penalized for providing such information or how to even trace if it were done.

I can buy them it's not a problem, I just need to know WHAT to buy and from which site, ERI or ATI.

thanks to everyone throwing out suggestions for me on how to handle this situation. this will be the first place i come once i pass this bear of an exam... :) and a special thanks to bronx_rn . you are truly queen!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Whoah! You mean to tell me they NEVER told you AT THE BEGINNING of your nursing program that you would have to take the exam by ATI????

Honey, if that is the case then you REALLY need to see an atttorney.

Some nursing schools tried to pull that crap mid-program with the HESI..not informing students at the beginning of the program but adding the HESI requirement mid-way....some of these students have sued and the courts have agreed that schools cannot change the requirements of a nursing program mid-way through.

ATI is NOT a proven predictor folks....maybe according to ATI who sells the system, but not by any independent research.

So those that are posting that she cannot pass the NCLEX-PN if she cannot get a 63% on the ATI....please quote your source on that.

The nclex is so much easier than the ati exit exam.

Exactly.

Hi did you ever find a solution for this exit exam problem? We're you able to send your papers to the board?
