What order should I take my RN nursing classes. Plz help me

Published

Okay, I am a university nursing student and I am failing my physiology class. I am a straight A nursing student but I am failing this class. It is absolutely horrible and a complete nightmare. I will take a W to save my GPA

I need to complete Anatomy, Microbiology and Physiology before next fall.

Should I?

1. Take Anatomy and Microbiology and 3 other nursing class this fall (Microbiology is 5 credits and everyday)

2. Take Anatomy this spring and then Microbiology and Physiology in the summer (I have to do it this way because Anatomy is a prereq for Phys)

I'm confused. What do you mean by straight A nursing student? Are you in the program and taking your coreqs or still doing your prereqs? Everywhere I know of anatomy is a prereq and you have to get a C or better but most places due to competitiveness you must get an A. I guess it doesn't really matter what you take together. I am taking A&P II with micro right now. Took my micro final today. There are a lot of bacteria to memorize and how each affects the different systems of the body. Plus the labs. It depends on how much time you can devote to both of them.

I am so confused. Do you mean up until this point in your pre-nursing you have been a straight A student? I would talk to the professor to see if tutoring is available. How much longer is left in the semester?

I would take the W and then retake the physiology class by itself. Then take anatomy by itself. Then take microbiology. These classes are too important to screw up and one W may be okay but you don't want too many of them.

Good day:

There are nursing schools in our area that do both prerequisites and nursing classes; though I can understand the confusion because the classes listed are not nursing classes, but prerequisite to nursing classes.

That stated, applesxoranges gives sound advice.

Thank you.

She said that anatomy was a prereq for physiology, so she cannot take physiology first.

OP, think about getting the Physiology Coloring Book, a real text, not a joke. It may very well help your brain retain the material, which, as you probably can guess, is vital as it underpins a great deal of your nursing courses later.

You could take micro and anatomy together, then next semester take physiology.

Her story doesn't add up then. How is she failing physiology if anatomy is a pre-req that she has not done? Unless she is transferring to a different university.

Hi GreeTea:

OP also stated "I am failing my physiology class" ;-)

Thank you.

That's why I suggested that great resource for physiology. There's an Anatomy one, too.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

I would slow it down and not pile them all on that way. Those course are hard, and you CANNOT risk poor grades in them.

That said, I'm confused. If anatomy is a prereq for physio, how are you failing physio if you haven't taken anatomy?

Okay, I am a university nursing student and I am failing my physiology class. Long story short my nursing school doesn't require Anatomy, Physiology and microbiology as prereqs. But they require Chem, Bios, nutrition, human development to get in (weird I know). So I am in my first semester of nursing school, doing well in all my nursing classes expects Physiology. I will almost certainly fail with an F unless a miracle happens, which is unlikely at this point.

I talked to my nursing advisor and she said I need to complete Anatomy, Microbiology and Physiology before next fall otherwise I can't enter clinical. And I will fall a year behind because our classes very structured, offered once, and we are in class cohorts.

What order should I take these classes in

Should I?

1. Take Anatomy and Microbiology and 3 other nursing classes this fall at my school.

I will be at 18 credits!! Probably won't be able to work at all

2. Take Anatomy this spring with my 3 course nursing classes at my school. (15 credits.

Then Microbiology and Physiology in the summer at a nearby community college. I have to do it this way because Anatomy is a prereq for Phys at the community college I am looking at. It is not at my school though.

I would really appreciate your advice. I am already a junior in college so I can't afford fall behind.
