Thinking of do this in the near future. Anyone out there with good experience?

University of Phoenix, all the way. I started attending four months ago, and I'll be completing my third class next week. Each class is 5 weeks long (you only take one class at a time). Getting my BSN through a traditional university would have been 2-2 1/2 years...with University of Phoenix Online, I'll be done in a year and a month! It's more expensive than a traditional university in terms of credit hours, but it's SO worth it to get it done. I love that I can schedule my class around my life, not the other way around. The staff at Univ of Phoenix were all so helpful in getting the paperwork ball rolling, and they're excellent motivators. The staff so far has been very knowledgeable and personable. I wouldn't change my decision if I had the chance. At Univ of Phoenix, grades are based on participation, papers, and group projects. It's rare to have a test, and even then it's open-book, because you're at home doing it. I spend MUCH less time on school this way, than compared to a traditional university. My contact person in the admissions office is Syrena Williams...she's great.

Cori,

Would you be willing to share Syrena's phone number so I can call her to ask a question about the RN-BSN program at UOP (please PM me if you feel more comfortable doing it via email versus on the public boards)?

I am in an ADN program currently, but plan on getting the RN-BSN online thru UOP too. I want to try and get an idea of how long it might take. You mentioned for you it will take about 1 year 1 month--which is great! I'm wondering whether I'll be facing the same situation or maybe could get done a little bit sooner given my previous education. Thanks, Steph

I am so happy to see such positive postings about Phoenix Online! I will be starting September 6th and can't wait! I originally went through College Network and was going to to Excelsior, but FOR ME it is not structured enough. My friend did it that way and loved it.............everyone learns differently I guess. ANYWAY email me anytime! I am very excited to get moving!

Thanks very much for this contact info. I really appreciate it. Regards, Steph

I just finished my BSN online with MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. I live in Nashville, and have 2 kids, work fulltime, etc. It took me 2 years of taking 2-3 classes per semester, but I wouldn't have done it any other way. It was the same price as going to the school in person (state tuition). Check out your local universities before you sock all that money into Pheonix. I'm not knocking Pheonix, just know there are lots of other options. Also, check into Ft Hays State University in Hays, KS (http://www.fhsu.edu/nursing)

because they have an affordable MSN online program, I think they also have BSN. Also, check into RODP in your state (Regents Online Degree Program) it is also quite reasonable.

Cori can you tell us what your previous college education is so we might understand how your getting done so quickly via U o P? 1yr and 1 month is outstanding. What did they base that on...credits alone or experience and credits or what? Enlighten us as I am sure others are eager to know how your finishing so quickly :)

In the meantime I will surf there and check it out. I have yet to do my first year but hey I like to plan ahead so this is great.

I'm searching for online RN to BSN programs at this time. I will be graduating next May and want to start next fall with an online program. Besides UPhoenix I was looking at University of Maryland. Anybody know something about their program? Any feedback is welcome. Thanks,

Anissa
