What are the New Pilot Questions?

Published

Last time I had heard that there were 10 (15?) questions that we placed on the test for use in future NCLEX tests. Last I'm I remembered, it was said that the herbal supplement are the new test questions (However, that was a while ago).

Can anyone tell me what the new pilot test questions come from? I'm just curious but would ilke to know.

The pilot questions come from item writers. The questions can be about any number of things. Item writers write the questions based on what is needed from the test plan. The test plan comes from information about current nursing practice. The information comes from surveys sent out to nurses and practice logs that nurses send in. It also comes from expert panels. Item writers (and item reviewers) are volunteers that are selected by NCSBN. You can apply to be an item writer or reviewer on the NCSBN website.

Thanks nursemom, that's very interesting. That would be very interesting work. I remember a year or so ago that you could be sort of sure that the herbal questions were the pilot questions, but I guess maybe they've moved beyond pilot to actual test questions.
