I applied for a PCT position at a local hospital. I'm pre-nursing, and start nursing this fall. I was given the number of the recruiter by a nurse recruiter. I called the lady today, and we talked for a few minutes, and she pulled up my resume, and asked what shift I want, if I would work weekends, and when my classes are. She also asked which units I'm interested in. She told me to call after I apply for any other positions there, and she will get it pulled up. She asked if I applied to any jobs recently, and I said yes, the CICU. Now, I checked the status of the job right before I called her, and it was OPEN. I checked back right after I got off the phone, and it said CLOSED. I don't know what to make of that. Surely she would have told me if it had been filled... Any thoughts if this is good or not? Just a fluke? This is X posted

They either decided not to hire or hired someone else would be my guess.

I think should ask them. We would just be guessing.

Could be they're not accepting any new applications because they have as many candidates as they want to deal with - You might have just slipped in under the wire, so to speak.
Like others said, if you're truly concerned, make a friendly call to let her know you're still interested in a position and inquire about the one you mentioned in your post.

Was it your application to that position that was "closed" ... or the position listing itself?
If it was the position listing, they may have hired someone else, received new information that for whatever budgetary reason the position cannot now be filled, or it may simply be their practice to "close" the position on the job listings when they have culled a pool of applicants to interview.
If it was your specific application ... any of the above may have occurred simultaneously as you were speaking with the HR recruiter, or s/he may have determined something in your conversation that excludes you from consideration for that particular department. It could have been something as simple as that you have class on a day of the week when they absolutely need someone to work. Try not to take it personally. And no - the HR recruiter is not under any obligation to tell you these details, although you are free to call back and ask if you wish.

Often it is to just stop the traffic. They will have plenty to choose from.
All of that is totally manipulated depending on need.
1. Might be just posting to look as if they are EEOC, but have someone pegged already.
2. HR can open again at will, which is why she asked you to call and let her know. She will open it up just to search your name, and let your app come through the system.
My advice would be to call her, as she told you to when you submit an application. Call abut this one ASAP.

Only way to know is ask, each facility is different,
At my old job my manager said that they were getting so many applicants ( around 100+) for each open position that they would only look at the first 30 qualified applicants then close the position and interview from those 30 people.
Just last week a hospital called me to interivew for a position, when I called them back to arrange the time, she said Oh we wanted to interview you, but we have since deceided to close the position all together, if another one opens within 60 days don't reapply, just contact HR again.
So closed could be closed to more applicants and still interviewing, closed due to buget reasonss, closed because they hired someone already
