What does your login nickname mean to you?

Published

I've seen so many different login names and have often wondered why people have come up with some of the crazy nicknames they have. Is it just something to put down; or, is it something that means a lot to them or describes them to a "t"?

Ok, I'll go first. The month I was born, my parents had a cat who had a litter of Maine coon cats. They kept one kitten and decided to call him TC. Why, you ask? Because those two letters could represent a vast variety of nicknames based on the type of day or attitude this kitty would have.

At times, my parents would call him Terrific Cat, Tremendous Cat, Tricky Cat, Time-consuming Cat. Others were not so endearing such as; Terrible Cat, Tyrannical Cat, Taunting Cat...etc. You get my drift.

Anyway, you wonder where I get my nickname based on this info?

You see, when I decided to go into nursing, my husband smiled and raised his eyebrows and said, "Hmmm...Naughty Nurse Nikki, eh?" I quickly shot him a look and said, "Why not Nice Nurse Nikki?" What ensued over the course of years in nursing school was much like what my cat TC had experienced. I've been referred to as Naughty Nurse Nikki, Nice Nurse Nikki, Nasty Nurse Nikki, Nimble Nurse Nikki, Notorious Nurse Nikki, Noble Nurse Nikki, Needy Nurse Nikki, Neurotic Nurse Nikki, Newbie Nurse Nikki, and now that I work Nights...I am Noc Nurse Nikki.

So take the nickname you choose, and run with it! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

My name is in honor of the "best dog ever". (Well I think so anyway) She was a Boarder Collie/Lab mix we got from the pound and named Trudy. When she was little, she always got underfoot and I was afraid I would step on her. Anyway, I said to her one day "I'm gonna step on you like a bug if you don't look out" and that morphed into trudlebug. Been using it as a screenname for about 10 years now. (Unfortunately we lost her not long after that) Boy, I really miss her.

I used to work midnights, 7pm to 7am. When I would introduce myself to patients I would say something like: "Hi my name is Dawn and I will be here until 7 in the morning." I had quite a few patients that found it amusing that my name was Dawn and I would be there until dawn, or as some said: "So I guess you're here from dusk until dawn."

mine is my name spelled backwards......:lol2:

Wow, so many interesting and revealing stories behind our names! Thanks to all who have chosen to respond to this thread. Gaining insight through something as simple as a name has proved to be an exciting journey! Thank you all for sharing!

Painthe5thVitalsign,

I wanted to let you know I appreciated your post and concur with your message. I'm sorry about what you had to deal with, however, I'm thankful you have chosen to utilize your experience to educate others, especially us nurses, on the dangers of taking pain out of the spotlight when it comes to assessment. It has given me a lot to think about!

"Zooz" was my mom's nickname for me. Don't ask me why, I have no idea how she came up with it...

My Cat Max is very important to me. I've had him for 3 years and he is such a good companion. He runs to greet me at the door the minute I get home and rubs himself all over me. He has this meow/chatter talk that he does when he wants my attention. He follows me all over the house (even when i go pee) and sleeps with me in bed. Someimes I think he loves me more than anyone else. When i get in bed at night and he comes to cuddle up next to me purring as loud as can be, it's just so relaxing. I love em!!

Just look at that face!!

mycatmax, that's adorable about your little kitty...max has the sweetest little face! And those eyes! I thought my Stella had the brightest green eyes for a kitty, but Max's look like little chips of emerald! ;) Aren't we lucky to have such adoring little kitties who love us, unconditionally?

Thanks devil duckie! He is very special to me! And YES! we are lucky!
