So I'm not a guy, but I hated wearing white during nursing school. In the real world, I wear black 95% of the time. So I feel your pain.
Anyways, shoe wise, your school will be fairly specific. Probably require white, all leather. No clogs... you are very limited.
How do you feel about converse shoes? You'd need to make sure they are okay with your school, but these are okay : http://m.zappos.com/converse-chuck-taylor-all-star-leather-hi-white-monochrome
And congrats on starting nursing school!

thanks, i can't wait! i'd definitely rock a pair of connies. i didn't realize they may have to be leather, so i guess i'll just wait to see what they want at orientation so i don't have to double buy.
My school was pretty specific about the uniform and shoes in our student handbook (our hair bands were supposed to match the school colors. Come on!) but in reality, no one every really checked. I wore K-Swiss walking shoes that were white with a blue logo and New Balance shoes that were white and grey, and no one every said anything to me about them being all white.
Also, whatever you decide to buy- don't spend too much. I guarantee you'll buy new shoes before you start your actual nursing job.
I just got myself some Brooks Addiction Walkers from Amazon. I saw fantastic reviews and I'm a fan of their running shoes. I have to use them for CNA School (required in NC for ADN) as well so I just ordered them. I'm not excited about the looks, but I hope it is well-made an crazy comfortable to make up for the looks.
Forget about appearances. When you're on your feet all day, the number one concern has to be comfort. My shoes are hideous and I'd never wear them in my day to day life, but they are a real lifesaver. In fact, even when I'm allowed to buy shoes that are not all white, I will probably buy based on quality of support & durability over style. Our feet really are that important.
