Have you decided what your area of specialty is going to be. Once all this hard work and studying is over with?
I am thinking a CRNA what about you?
I am going to be a cheese ball and quote from the movie "Never Been Kissed" where the girl says that she was told that if you wake up thinking about somthing every morning and it is the first thing on your mind that is what you are; or in my case, what I am going to be. I think about being a midwife every single day. I have an entire book case of books on midwfery and OB nursing and even have some more on their way in the mail. I watch about births on TV and am totally looking forward to Peds/Ob next semester because my teachers is goig to try and get me a real live midwife to shadow!!! AHH I can't wait!
wow, a lot of future nicu nurses out there!
definitely nicu or peds in general. i also have a graduate of the nicu who is 6 years old. he has quad. cp, but his spirit is one of a ufc fighter!
i'm applying for a 6 month internship program for the icu's at the university hospital in november. (ack! only four months away!!! :loveya: ) i'm so excited and jittery about the prospect of even being considered!
one of these days, i really want to be a clinical instructor part-time. i like the idea of helping to nurture and teach future nurses!

i can't tell you how many people ask my if i'm going into peds because of my daughter (cp, feeding tube). nope. i've wanted to do this way before she came around. my mom worked nicu in a bad area so many of the babies were drug addicted and left behind. i know that's where i want to be. the only question i've ever had is nicu (don't want regular nursery since i don't believe babies belong in nurseries) or peds. if i go peds i'm considering hospice or oncology but that idea may change. the plan for nicu or peds...won't ever change....i wanted that before i had kids.
I just finished my first year, and now I am working in the ICU as a NCP. I originally wanted CRNA, and am still considering, but NP is appealing to me also. All I am sure about is that I want to work for about a year in the ICU when I grad. in May 09' and then got back MSN! I am really excited to experience all the different areas in the rest of my clinicals though. Who knows I might change my mind!
I'm not sure what I want to do when I graduate. I volunteer in the ED and really like it. Long term I want to get my NP or CNS and a MPH and do community nursing/health education. I think focusing on HIV and infectious disease (I loved micro). Who knows, maybe don a spacesuit for the CDC one day! This can all change of course, there are so many options! (Don't worry, I will never be your competition for peds or nicu :wink2:, not a kid person)
