What should I do?

Published

I am 25 y.o. nurse with almost 2 years of experience as of April 27th ( but who is counting)...lol...But anyways I work on a Neuro unit. I feel like I do not get any support from my management team. They talk to me like I am a child. Like I told them I am young and only have 2 years of experience but I am still an adult. My question is should I move on with my career and leave or just try to fix our relationship? What should I do?

The floor is very divided...she does not talk like that to other nurses on the floor...she shows favoritism on the floor...its only certain people that she talks to like that...we had several meetings with HR...there is still no improvements on the floor...I can't really explain how she talks to me like a child but she does...for some odd reason I truly believe it is because of my age and experience as a nurse

Hope you find a good unit and like it.. maybe they will treat you better as to them you are not the new grad on the block even after 2 yrs..

Good luck

Use my method....the next time they patronize you....go off!!!! One of two things will happen, they will fire or discipline you...OR...they will start to respect you. Trust Me....I've only been fired once.

Hope you are able to find something better and don't go from the proverbial frying pan into the fire.

I like neuro in general...but I don't feel comfortable at all when going to work!!! I don't sleep well at night because I know I have to go into work...I feel like everybody is an equal....nobody should be talked to like a child...I dred going to work!!! But my heart is telling me I should leave start all over again!!!

Why stay? A lot of new nurses get the itch to move on around the 2 year mark. See what else is out there. If you get an offer that excites you, I say go for it.

Also, by moving on to a new unit, you won't forever be seen as the new grad. You'll be a fellow nurse with two years experience to bring to the table.

I think that I am really going to leave if I get an opportunity....I just hope she will not give me a bad reference...I think it is time to leave and see what else up there!!!
