Hi. I am a senior in high school and am very interested in becoming an RN. I have been looking for information and getting advice from people on the best route to take in order to do so. All of my research is doing nothing but making me even more confused. I need someone to help me figure out what classes to sign up for after high school, as well as what degree is best. Please email me with any helpful information you may have ([email protected]). Thanks!

Go to a Community College(its cheaper) or a 4-year university whichever is cheaper and register for the Pre-requisites they require for your degree. Im assuming here that you are getting your bachelors. So that you dont take classes you dont need talk to the schools in your area and see what classes they require. That will keep you from being confused. You are going to have to take Anatomy& Physiology, chemistry, Microbiology, art/humanities, english........all that good stuff....I hope this helped you

Yep, try to have whichever college you choose assign you an advisor as soon as possible. Good luck! :)

Whether you get a ADN or BSN is your decision, but most will requre many of the same basics... Anatomy and Physiology, College Algebra and/or Chemistry, English and Psychology.
However, you'll more than likely have to do testing to determine what classes you can register for first. (intermediate math or college algebra....intermediate english or freshman level english, etc) Also, some courses have classes you have to take before you can take them. (A&P may have a pre-req of Biology, etc)
You need to decide what school you will attend and talk to an advisor there. They will direct you as to what that college requires or advises.
Good luck! :)

First, I would look into which college or school you'd like to go to. From there, you can look at that individual school's pre-reqs and know exactly which classes to start with. You might want to check with the local community colleges. A local community college near me offers an intro to nursing course that is non-credit. It's supposed to be really helpful in pursuing a career in nursing and puts you in contact with nurses. You might want to look for something like that. Good luck! :)

take all the science you can in college ..but the ones recommended of course for pre nursing
biology
chem
anatomy /physiology
microbiology
math
all with labs except the math
if you are a very motivated hs student who took tons of upper level classes (some ap perhaps ) in hs you should be okay but don't let that discourage you if you didn't
i started all over after attending 3 years of college 10 years ago
you can make it happen
just do a search at
http://www.discovernursing.com
for all nursing schools in your area or where you may want to go
then get all your stuff in order
good luck
take care
