Published

I would just like to know What are your working hours??

Im FL and I know Hospitals here are 12 hour shifts 7am-7pm - 7pm-7am

But for Nursing Homes... I hear they are 8 hour shifts but some are different then others and I'd like to know the average. So if anyone here would like to share their info, Thank you in advance! :)

I recently got hired at a nursing home. The shift I am assigned is 11pm-7am. An 8-hour shift. I believe that the average hours for day shift is 7am-3pm. The evening shift is 3pm-11pm, and the night shift is 11pm-7am. I think that some hours vary for different facilities. :redbeathe

As a CNA in a hospital, I worked 12-hour days, 6:30a-7:00p, minus 30 minutes for lunch. I worked 3 days a week to be full time.

Now as a CV Tech at the same hospital, I work 8-hour shifts, and I'm currently on the 3p-11p, though hoping to switch to 7a-3p soon.

I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. The nursing homes around here typically staff with 3 shifts. Night shift is 10pm to 6am, day shift is 6am to 2pm, and evening shift is 2pm to 10pm.

Facility work is: 6a-2p, 2p-10p,10p-6a or

7a-3p, 3p-11p,11p-7a

Weekend-Baylor is Saturday and Sunday two double shifts back to back paying 40 hours vs 32 hours.

Hospital or industry facilities are 12 hour shifts: 7-7, or 6-6

6a-2p, 2p-10p,10p-6a

That sounds like better hours! Thanks everyone. ;)

Specializes in LTC, Med/Surg.

All the nursing homes in my area do 8-hour shifts: 6 am-2pm, 2 pm-10 pm, 10 pm-6 am.

In hospitals, the 8 hour shifts are 7 am-3 pm, 3 pm-11 pm, and 11 pm-7 am. However, all CNA's work 7 to 7 12 hour shifts.

I work 6 am - 2 pm...Friday through Sunday for a total of 30 hours a week.

Specializes in 6 yrs LTC, 1 yr MedSurg, Wound Care.

A lot of places here are 7-3, 3-11, and 11-7. However, I just started at a nursing home and the shifts are 6-2, 2-10, 10-6. It's early mornings, but I get off early enough to pick up my daughter from school, etc.

If you're looking for a job, just call and see if they're hiring then ask what the shifts are. Takes 30 seconds and you know what you need to know. :)

The hours at the snf I work for in Hawaii are the same.

Specializes in Rehab and Alzheimer's.

I work in a nursing home. We work 8 hour shifts at my facility. I work second shift from 3pm-11pm. I've worked all three shifts and I can honestly say that second shift is my favorite. The only downside is, in my facility, it is also the most frequently mandated shift. It may not be like that everywhere but at my facility, the third shift workers call in a lot so the second shifters have to fill in. I work five days a week (40 hours) if you don't count the mandations and extra shifts. The RNs and LPNs have two shifts: 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am. That's how my facility rolls. I'm glad you asked because it's interesting to read about other people's experiences.

Specializes in LTC, Rehab, CCU, Alzheimers, Med-Surg.

I've worked 2-10, 3-11, and 7p-7a. My favorites are 12's.
