honey at the rate things are going your question should be "what hospital will *hire* a graduate nurse". *lol*

am sure you know the difference but few if any nyc hospitals hire gns (graduate nurses) anymore. rather they wait until your licensed (passed nclex) and thus are a new rn. though suppose it really is a matter of semantics. however for many "new grads" the time between graduation and their first nursing gig after licensure can be long.

DoGoodThenGo is right. I graduated last May with a BSN from a reputable college with a GPA of 3.6 along with volunteer work, etc. I may have just landed a job (still waiting for a confirmation) and it's been a long time since I graduated. It is all about connections and like you are doing..starting your search early on. Apply everywhere and get back in touch with your clinical instructors..everyone is asking for letters of recommendation, transcripts..the works. Good luck.

Hi D_lohvRN,

I will be graduating with my BSN in December and I have to say that after reading your post I'm a little discouraged. Do you mind if I ask you from which school/program did you graduate from? I'm spending a lot $$$ right now for my education and the prospect of no jobs is definitely depressing. I know it will be tough to find a job right away as a new grad especially with the amount of skilled and experienced nurses out there who can't find a job either. I'm just hoping for the best and any advice is humbly appreciated.
