I'm not getting much sleep at all so what foods and supplements exactly are nursing students taking to go through the day and to help your brain function correctly? I'm looking at caffeine and 5 hour energy drinks for that energy burst during the day...
Whole unsalted almonds are my favorite energy snack. Peanut butter and crackers is another guilty pleasure but satisfying. I try not to have caffeine after 10am and I take prenatal multivitamins even though I'm not pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Eggs are a good source of energy and contain choline which is vital for brain health. Try to get at least 6 hours of sleep a night. Important thing is to keep to a sleep schedule and DO NOT deviate. Your body gets used to a rhythm and insomnia will happen when you throw yourself off of that schedule.
Honestly, energy drinks do not work for me and they're sooo bad for you. If I need it coffee but otherwise I take an organic multi, all natural fish oil supp, magnesium, and I drink a tea called yerba matte and the tea I really feel a difference from. I also find excercising as much as possible helps me a lot with more energy during the day, better sleep at night, and most importantly it helps relieve stress. Don't worry you'll be fine, I have a husband gone 50-100 hours a week working and two very littlw and wild boys and if I can do I'm sure you'll be fine. The hardest thing I've found is sometimes I just lose my motivation and then it's kinda down hill. Good Luck!!!!
@ScottE - Like a somnologist right? Maybe so. I went to the doctors and all they do is prescribe sleep aids.@mommywithplenty - I may have to look into another different brand. Jamieson seems to be a Canadian brand and seems to be found only in Canada. This means I would have to probably pay more to have it shipped here to the States.
You should be able to find the equivalent although the one's I have seen in the States seem to lack the biotin but as that's a cheep supplement it's not too hard to take with the b's. I keep forgetting not everyone lives in a boarder town. We live near Niagara Falls, about 10 mins to the boarder.
