What was your first job as a new grad ? And where are you now in your nursing career ?

Specializes in Pediatrics, Pediatric Float, PICU, NICU.

Started as a brand new grad in the PICU doing an amazing nurse residency program at one of the top 5 pediatric hospitals in the country....13+ years later and I'm still doing pediatrics bedside in both critical care and acute care as part of the Float Team.

Specializes in Oncology, OCN.

I’m about 8 months in as a new grad on an Oncology unit. Great supportive unit and I’m learning a lot. Full time days as well so I’m likely to hang around for a couple years and enjoy the schedule and friendly unit. Probably try and move to a cardiac type unit in the furture but time will tell.

I worked on a med/surg/tele floor as a RN in a hospital that saw rare kids and mostly very elderly adults in Southern CA. Deaths were a daily occurrence, sometimes 2-3 patients a shift. I only stayed there 2 months and my husband's military duty station changed and I ended up on a med/surg unit in Southern, CA. Much nicer and I learned a lot.

My last job was a Telephone Triage RN job for a Internal Med Clinic. I basically handled all calls and all paperwork, arranged all tests, and resolved any problem. Loved it but I got sick and I'm off work now.

LVN: Corrections in a small county jail for 2 years while I worked on my RN.

RN: Med-Surg in a small rural hospital for almost a year then switched to an ASC for "daycare hours."
