ADN here. Private duty nursing for 1 yr. Just got offered a position on a med-surg floor at a hospital, finally. Most likely because I'm working on my BSN. So excited!

I was in a long term care facility for five years, then a little less than a year in med-surg and now ICU. Many options out there!

I worked in the ortho rehab section of a rehab/SNF. I was there 10 months until I got my dream job: ortho nurse at the hospital I am at still. Best part I was considered a new grad @ 10 months so I got great orientation with some experience.

ED/Trauma x 10 years, then infection prevention/epidemiology for a year, now working in appeals. Oh, and also working in education for the last two years (part-time, online).

Thats great. Hospitals have so much to offer. I currently work per diem at a subacute rehab its a nice facility but not enough action for me. Hardly any IV’s, trach, gtubes or ventilator. As a brand new nurse i feel like im waiting away. If i dont use it i’ll lose it.

I would love to work in the ED one day.

I started in LTC, and within a few years will retire- from the same facility! I love the craziness of it and have learned so much over the years.. I now take care of the "kids" of folks I took care of years ago. I work in a very small town and wouldn't trade this for anything. Even when I'm burned out and ready to give up, I keep on keeping on!
