Just curious what has been your favorite prereq and why?
Mine was A&P...why? It didn't bother me studying for hours on end b/c the human body absolutely fascinates me!!! I loved lab too. I happened to have a professor that had been a nurse for years, so she applied a ton towards nursing.
Tips for those who haven't taken it yet...try to not take a tough load the same semester you take these classes. Pay full attention in class, and DON'T CRAM for the tests....study a bit each day and spread it out.
So far, I've just focused on getting some my social sciences/math out of the way...last term, I really enjoyed my math class. It was good to get the basics down again...there was a lot I didn't understand in higshcool, and the prof was super about explaining it very good, as well as being *very* helpful! She rocked! And my classmates were cool, as well. :)
For Spring Term, I am taking Developmental Psycology, Writting, Math, and Stress Management. I just startee this week, but I think Developmental Psyc will be really fun. There's a ton of pre-nursing students in the class...actually, I think we make up most of the class!
I loved API and II, I'm not sure which I like better, but possibly I. I also loved my Psych 101, I had the best professor. Just finished APII last quarter and now I'm starting Business math, Developmental Psych and First Aid. All of my teachers seem really cool, but the pace has been very relaxed so far and it's weirding me out after all the pressure of my last 3 quarters :wink2:
I just love LAB. I like doing anything there, especially if it involves chemicals, blood, microscopes. I had lots of fun in chem lab.
The strangest thing is that I never considered myself a "math" person, but I really enjoyed stochiometry, which are the mathematic equations in chemistry. Once I started doing them, they were so much fun I could hardly stop. Now, how strange is that?
So, even if you are afraid of Chem, you might actually like it! Just keep a positive attitude......It's important to learn, since life IS chemistry!

Thank you so much - this is exactly what I need to hear. I hope I can have your attitude when I end up having to take chemistry because it truly does scare me. Thanks for keeping it positive - I will keep your thoughts in the back of my mind.

PLEASE don't be scared of Chemistry!
It's like anything else that's unknown; it's just waiting to be explored. I had an awesome instructor who obviously loved the subject; certainly that helps, but it's not required. She explained a lot of the material in terms that were understandable to everybody... things like breathing, bathing, thinking and cooking... things that everybody does.
Some of Chemistry is a little dryer than others; in fact, some of it can be boring. But it's up to you to find something about it that makes it worth your time. Like sis123 said, I loved stoichiometry and the whole math part of the course (which if I remember correctly, was most of the course!). That was what I was most afraid of (not having had a Chemistry class in almost 30 years!), but it was very interesting which made it fun. I liked biochemistry, too... that's where we got to learn the chemistry of nutrition and respiration and fluid balances and so many other things related to nursing.
I guess I just wanted to say that it's just a course, nothing to be afraid of, and if you go into it with a positive attitude, I know you'll succeed! I hope you'll continue to post and let us know how it's going for you.
I wish you much good luck and success!

Thanks - that was just what I needed! :) Chemistry is not a pre-req for the ADN that I am on the waiting list for right now, but I know I will need it when I do the ADN to BSN route later and I'm thinking of taking it while I'm on the wait list just to get it out of the way. I have always been terrified of math, but I did good in the algebra classes which shocked me, so who knows? You are right, I just need to keep a positive attitude rather than dreading it so much. Maybe I will even love it. :chuckle
Thanks for the boost - maybe I'll take Chem this summer where I don't have to take anything else. We shall see what happens here.

From what I hear, most everyone prefers A&P 2. I am looking forward to taking it too, cause like you, I really do love A&P 1.
