Nursing student here. In our last clinical rotation (psych), the instructors had us write a journal each week and include an entry on how we "took care of ourselves" each week. I was curious what you do for yourselves "in the real world" to keep yourself sane?
Just like another poster posted...i've been working out w/ a trainer. It helps relieve some stress. Last Friday, I got my hair highlighted, mani and pedicure. I even managed to get a massage. All in the same day! That doesn't happen too often. I try to get a massage at least once a month. I think i deserve it between working and school. I might have to work an over time day to afford it...but it worth it. :)
I do about the same thing as a lot of ya all. I love to read so I treat myself to books. I try to get a facial and/or massage at least every few months. I vent to my nursing and sometimes non nursing friends and I am now starting an exercise program. My athletic ability has always been in the tubes so if anything, it should be a hoot in the beginning.
I asked for a reduction in hours and will be part time soon.
I bought a few cute things for my kitchen on ebay.
Other things I do on a regular basis:
Read a good book.
Try a new recipe.
Take a long walk.
Play with my dog and cat.
Visit family.
Hang out with my husband.
Chat with friends and have a good laugh.

I buy myself season tickets to our local minor league hockey club and go to all the games. There's nothing like watching hard checks, yelling at both teams, celebrating goals, drinking a beer and doing the Cotton-Eyed Joe to relieve stress after a 12 hour day. Not to mention the occasional fight.
I also joined to Booster club and got elected to the board so I can help support the team. They're a great bunch of guys with a huge variety of interests.
