HEy guys new to the site

heres the scoop this girl is a "wanna be ghetto' type female, not stereo typing im a sista and all i am saying is she is very loud and disruptive and refers to herself as white chocolate .

the teacher Knows she probably wont make it through the end of the year she allready had a written warning stating her anatomy grade is failing and if she continues she wont continue in the program. My problem is blocking out the ones that think this is still highschool just because we sit in a class room for 6 hours a day...their so childish and im only 21!!! HELP! SHE SITS BEHIND ME AND ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!:nono:

I must say that everyone has given very good advice. I would definitely re-emphasize that you should change your seating and move to the head of the class (if you're not already there) and learn to tune them out. I had the same problem when I first started the program, but now we only have 5 more months and guess what. . . the riff raff (as my grandfather would say) has long past left the building. People like that generally don't last very long. I tend to get along with everyone, but I also let them know when enough is enough. I actually had one or two people stop speaking to me because I made a comment about them disrupting the class and about a month later they withdrew from the class.

If the instructor isn't doing anything about it, you may have to say something and I guarantee that you won't be the only person speaking up. Good Luck!

yes. change your seat. we had one of those in my med/surg classes that was a "me too". every disease we discussed, someone in her family had or she had. and the teachers continually allowed her to disrupt class with these ridiculous stories. i learned to just start reading when she started talking...people like that are nothing more than attention whores and i refuse to pay all that money just to have them take up my time.

also, bring nclex review books to class. when you don't want to be bothered, or get tired of listening to that mess, take out your review book and go over what you are going to discuss or just discussed in class. you can never totally get away from those types, but you can stop them from wasting your time.

We had several in my class who were very noisy and disruptive. Eventually the loudest ones were thrown out of class but it took a while. I sat at the front, during class and a few days a week, I would go for a walk at lunch with my ipod or with a few other sane classmates, this avoided having certain people plop themselves down with you at lunch. Good luck with school.

I am currently taking summer classes at my local community college. In my American Literature class, there are three male students who are loud, boisterous, and disruptive. They hoot, holler, carry on with side conversations while the instructor is attempting to lecture, and disrupt the overall learning environment.

I simply deal with it, because the instructor has absolutely no control over her classroom. I can sense that she is annoyed by the disruptive students, but she does nothing about it. It makes no sense to waste my energy over this issue when the instructor could put her foot down and make it stop. I simply take comfort in knowing that I only have 4 more weeks of this wild, disorganized class. My goal is to earn the 3 credits so that I will be 1 step closer to applying to an RN program.

I use to use a cattle prod on disruptive clasmates but I am not sure if that is socially acceptable these days.

B., you've done it again; made me laugh when I would've been crying. You're so funny. My advice, however, is that if one can no longer use the faithful cattle prod, entice them to come to your house for a chat, and when you see them coming, turn the sprinklers on 'em. It's always worked for me. Heck of a water bill, though.........

I was taking a computer class back when I worked in human resources and there were young guys in the class who were good at computer programs and I was just learning and having a rough time. These guys all congregated at the computer behind me one day and were being loud and having fun playing a game on the computer that had nothing to do with class. I finally had to ask them if they minded being quiet as I was in that class to learn something that I had to know for my job and they were very nice about it and were quiet after that. So sometimes it does pay to confront (in a nice way) the people who bother you in class.

Part of the problem at my school was that the administration did not back the teachers at all with issues like this or cheating. I had one Professor tell me that without any support there is no sense in even bothering. Sadly in todays society all someone has to do is say "sue" and the schools, hospitals, police departments etc. are rolling over and paying them off. Its a darn shame that good, serious students are disrupted especially in nursing school.

Hang in there and do move seats if you can. Take care and keep up the good work, Jules

What's REALLY scary is the idea of having people with this degree of immaturity taking care of actual patients in a year or so.:uhoh21:

**snicker** Sounds like she won't make it that far THANK GOD

Kick her in the shin, I say!:trout:

No, really... you gotta move, the further away the better. That's a shame, if you like your seat. But your grade is more important. I had the best seat when I was in school -- it was in the back corner of the room, but I had a perfect sightline of the board and overhead, and could drop my bags in the corner without having anyone trip on them. Also, there was a utility table back there, so I could open my book to my left, and still take notes on the desk in front of me.
