Hello, I am pre-nursing student, and I would like to apply to Georgia state university nursing program. The minimum overall /science GPA for GSU is 3.3. I did good in most of my courses so my overall GPA is above 3.3, but I did horrible on my math. I am afraid this might affect my science GPA. Does anybody know if math courses are calculated into science GPA in Georgia state? Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't be quicker to call the school?

I am not familiar with this university's policy. However, at the university that I applied to the math grade would be calculated towards the cumulative (overall) GPA. Only the grades earned in the prerequisite science courses are used to determine the science GPA. The science grades are also used to calculate the cumulative GPA.

I also am not familiar with this university's policy, but some schools look at the main science pre-req GPA separately from the other classes. But contact the school just to be sure.

Have you looked at their website? Most schools have all of this stuff available online.

Agreeing with previous posters, I think you should contact the program/academic advisor. They're in a position to answer questions just like this one.

Ga state goes by program GPA, which is the list of prereqs they require. Pretty sure College Algebra and Statistics will be counted in that GPA.
