Hey All,

I am no stranger to All Nurses! I have been following the site since I started nursing school. I recently graduated on 5/31 and now I'm currently waiting for my ATT. So now what's next? THE NCLEX. I was just offered a position as a RN and I NEED to pass my NCLEX on the first try but I have NO CLUE where to begin!!

I wondered if I should study content first then questions OR should I do practice questions each day and study my weaknesses in between? Today I just wrote out notecards with lab values and such, but that's it. What to do!?!?!?!? Ahhhhh

What WOULD you Do?

What DID you do?

Please help me :-)

Hey missmedschool. As u see in my thread i used a daily log to track my progress. You're doing okay as i see on your post there.

Just plan everything, you'll figure it out once u start planning and writing everything down then Start reading one book or do online review one at a time. Goodluck!

I think my issue is that I have toooooo many resources! Lol

I think it is universally important to look at test-taking strategies (Kaplan is great with that).

Content is important, too. However, remember that you aren't expected to know everything. There are some questions on the test that I had no idea what the condition/med was, so I just took an educated guess.

When do you take your boards and what kind of nursing program were you in? Have you had a lot of practice?

I took my exit hesi on March 23 and got pinned April 4. I took my boards today (June 2) -- the only reason why I waited so long was because my BON was incredibly slow in processing my application and i got my ATT a week ago. I finished in 75 questions. I started doing practice questions 5 days before, and yesterday I looked at content all day. I got the "good message" with the pearson vue trick today. It really all depends on whether or not you are a good test-taker / if you know your stuff. The questions are very random.

Hey, I haven't received my ATT yet! I just graduated from an ADN program in Maryland. I just started my practice on June 1st. So far, so good. I am doing 200 questions per day and then working on my weaker areas.

Hello MissMedSchool..

I think you should try answering an assessment exam or anything up to 275 items first.. That way you'll know if you lack content or just test taking strat.. It's whether you know a lot of things or just finding a hard time choosing which is which. Good luck to all of us.! :D

I Have a hard time choosing which is which! I always get down to two answers. :-( @lanztar

Well, for me that means you'll need test taking strat.. BUT, that's just what I think. (trying to be safe here).:D The first time I took my NCLEX I failed cause I only did answer loads of Qs. Sadly, my content was weak and didn't know a lot of stuff on my exam. Now Im trying to boost up my content for my 2nd take. I'm still planning to study for TestTkngStrat for my last 2wks though.. Hopefully I pass this time.. :D

Oh really? You only did practice questions? So many study strategies work for so many different people. It's insane!

Yep.. I never did study for content that time, which is very wrong for me :nono:

That would be wrong for me too. I figured that if I take the practice targeted tests, I would know what my weaknesses are and then i can study the content I didn't know for that and then tackle the tests again a few days later. I hope it works for me. I hope everything works out for you too!

Right..and just like what one1morestep said: Just plan everything.. Planning is always a good start..

Thanks and good luck to all of us.! :D
