What a coincidence. . .every single student nurse who shadows me. . .

wants to ONLY work NICU or be a trauma flight nurse, but only for two years because then they want to get either their CRNA or FNP before 2015 because there is no way they are getting a doctorate!!

EVERY. SINGLE. STUDENT.

Sigh. . .

I have no issue whatsoever with people who want to improve themselves. It just seems a little presumptuous to be talking about advancing in a career one hasn't even entered yet. When I went to school I was just worried about finding work (my luck being what it is, there was a nursing surplus when I graduated). I tried to grab every nugget of knowledge I could from the experienced nurses I worked with. I certainly had my preferences as far as specialties (they weren't ICU or ER, BTW), but I also realized that I might not get one of them. I was also prepared to keep my mind open regarding whatever I wound up in. My plans went no further than the licensing exam and my first job. When you look too far ahead, you can lose focus on the things that are important at the time.

there are those who a perceived as being condescending, rude or otherwise negatively even though that was not their intent. and then there are those who admit they were deliberately condescending. the former are worth understanding better; the latter not.

i'm not sure that's meant to be a slur against me or not. i would hope not since i've been trying to support your less than popular viewpoint because i understand where your coming from but this is an so it probably is.

wow you're still going? sigh ok ruby i apologize if i hurt your feelings but here's the lesson in life you're missing: you can't initiate rude behavior then all of a suden become "shocked" that someone reciprocated, whats the rationale in your mind that its ok to talk down to someone then when that person returns that kind gesture and sarcastically lets it known,,,you get upset? you can dish it but can't take it. smh you will not speak to me the way you did and not get anything back, sorry does not work like that in life. so lets move on, i will forget you and you do the same, mutual respect. thanks.

I think that was in response to my response to your response to HopefulNurse's response to Ruby's response. I don't remember who she was responding to.

I think it's where I'm told that commenting about someone's writing skills isn't a petty jab, it's out of genuine concern for a potential grad student's future. And then an argument ensues about spelling and how important it is to grad school and someone who can't spell will come in and say they have their phD, so what now!

So we can stop an entire avalanche right now if we don't even go there; especially because I won't believe it, anyway.
