What classes to take before the HESI-A2?

Published

Hi,

I am starting my nursing pre-reqs this spring and wondering what courses I absolutely need before taking the HESI-A2? This will be my second bachelor's so the only courses I'm missing are two government courses, Anatomy, Phys (they split them here), and Micro. Everything else I already have. I'm enrolled in the two govt courses and Anatomy this spring... and am planning to take Phys and Micro in the summer (and fall if needed). My application isn't due until August 15th, but I do want to have a general timeline on how all this needs to go. Any advice is much appreciated.

It depends on the school. Some schools require physics and some don't. I know there is math (which is dealing with fractions, decimals, and conversions), reading comprehension, vocabulary, anatomy and physiology (my school said just the basics for a&p....like the first semester will be efficient enough), and chemistry. I personally took a chemistry class even though I didn't need to but has been over ten years since I had taken it. Go on Amazon and buy one or two study guides and don't wait until the week of to study. And get a hold of your school and find out what they require..I have read that some just have the reading and math part to some people having everything but physics and to some having all. Good Luck!

ant. 1 & 2 and chemistry plus the math I would read up in a study guide about nouns, adverbs etc.

Yeah I've taken up through calculus and some upper level chem so i'm not super worried about the math/chem... but I didn't know about the physics portion. That I may need to take a course in. I have no clue what I'm doing there. :) THanks!!

Okay so I just checked, and it looks like I don't need physics.... Since I will have Anatomy completed, do you think that I can take HESI after that, or do I really need to also have Phys and Micro completed before I do?

Thanks!

If I were you and knew I didn't need to take the physics portion, I would go ahead and take the HESI A2 after taking A&P 1 & 2. Considering you have completed through calculus and some upper level chem courses, I think you will be more than prepared for the sections you are required for after completing A&P 1 & 2.
