The term is spelled wrong. It is choledocholithiasis. It is the "condition" of stones in the gallbladder and common bile duct. These are stones that emerge from the gallbladder and get stuck in the biliary ducts.

The breakdown of the combining forms and suffix is this:

chole
- bile

docho
- receptacle

lith
- stone, calculus

iasis
- condition, or pathological state

Hi Daytonite,

What exactly is telemetry? Never heard of it.

Hi Daytonite,

Telemetry is the electronic transmission of data to a remote location. In the hospital, patients are hooked up to electrodes that sense the electrical activity of their heart and this information is sent to a transmitter that sends it on to a receiver that captures and records it. The people monitoring the telemetry see it as EKG patterns on TV monitors which they are constantly watching for arrhythmias. With telemetry, patients carry a small box (the transmitter) around with them so they can get up, walk around, and engage in activity while the telemetry is constantly transmitting the electrical activity of their heart to a remote EKG monitor that someone is watching.
